Humpty's Big Plate Diner - Yorkton — Restaurant in Yorkton

Normally the staff are great (the two regular women are phenomenal) but lately I've had a couple poor experiences with the younger staff. The most recent was when we took our child in for a birthday lunch (kids eat free on birthdays). Before sitting down, i confirmed that my childs meal would be free and the woman who seated us confirmed it would be free. While after the poor service from our waitress (took forever to take our order and bring drinks, walked by like 4 times and i kept trying to ask for napkins, took 15 minutes after our meal to bring the bill - she saw we had finished eating.) She charged us for my child's meal, i mentioned it was her birthday and mentioned the free birthday meal. She told me i was mistaken and that it was only 50% off. i asked her to check the menu and mentioned that the other woman confirmed it. She reluctantly checked the menu and told me the other waitress was wrong and ment to tell us that we get a free dessert. We didnt even ask about dessert and she was telling us what the first waitress ment to tell us (she wasn't there and never heard what the first waitress said, so this claim was false). Oct 3, 2022. I didn’t get a chance to eat here. The sign said they close at 9 PM…I walked in to grab some takeout at 8:35 PM. The girl at the counter turned me away because they usually only take orders until 8:30 PM she said. She asked what I wanted first actually and I said to see a menu, so sounded like she was prepared to take my order as long as it was a quick one. But wouldn’t hand me the menu to give me a chance before she said sorry…I don’t know the menu off by heart. I drive truck and just finished a 17 hr day…was tired and hungry. So much for truckers being the hero’s anymore. One would think after Covid and all the business that restaurants lost, that this one would have worked a couple extra minutes later to fill a hungry trucker’s belly…there were still patrons dining with near full plates on their table as I was...

Save your money and time, go somewhere else. I adore Humpty's as a franchise and I heard that the owners of this place are a delight. However, the quality is horrid.

Their staff rotate who is at what station, meaning that you may get a table first just because you stood closer to the desk, despite others being told to sit and wait. For further context, it seems the waiters also are the cooks. This leads to natural inefficiencies.

They did not follow instructions on my order and when I asked them to remake it due to allergies, they simply scraped the items I was allergic to off my food. I still got ill because it was contaminated, as shown by the stains on the bun that it was not remade.

The waiter apologized and gave us 10% off, but I still paid $20 for food that caused an allergic reaction....
