We visited Czech Inn Grill on Jan 6, 2024 after not being in Grand Cayman for almost exactly a year. In 2023, it was our “go to” place for lunch and dinner several times during the week. The food and service were both great every time we were there. We bragged about it as being a great place with great food to a friend we brought with us to Grand Cayman.
We were all sadly disappointed. It took 15-20 minutes just to get drinks to the table. We finally ordered our food and were wondering if it was ever going to show up. When it did, my wife’s shrimp Quesadilla was rather thin even though it was 2 pieces stacked together, but it did actually have shrimp in it. The grilled Whahoo I had was so dry I only ate 2 bites of it and left the rest of it on my plate. Someone also salted the hell out of my fries. Our friend’s rice and beans were room temperature as was his curry goat. He said the goat tasted good, but was barely room temperature. Who wants to eat a cold meal? Refills of beer took over 15 minutes to arrive after I had to stop server, and the Coke Zero never did show up. Our server never did check once with us during the meal to see how the meal was or if we’d needed anything else. I always had to flag him down to get everything. We don’t think he cared about us in the least!! When the check finally arrived, it had an extra beer added to it that we didn’t order. We will NOT be going back during our 2 week vacation here on the island unless George is working and has things back under control. When he was there, things like this were NEVER a problem! Great service, and great food! Last year we spent several hundred dollars at George’s place, but that’s probably not gonna happen this year.
In case you’re wondering, they really weren’t very busy. Everyone there was just sitting around waiting for their food and drinks to show up. We even heard one customer asking if their food was ever coming or not.
Hi George,
Thanks much for your quick response!!
Unfortunately, none of us here know how to respond to your response, so I’m typing it here.
We know that you’ve been fighting some medical issues for awhile now, and are so sorry that you have to go through this.
We appreciate your offer to come in and rectify the problem we had, but we’d NEVER even think of having you do such a thing. We’d much more prefer that you stay home and take care of yourself and come back better than ever!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery!! Take care, and we’ll both return the...
Read moreFinally made a stop at Czech Inn Grill for a late lunch. I've been craving schnitzel, and have heard good things about theirs.
Made the short drive to Bodden Town and found a nice paved parking lot close to the bar and covered outdoor dining area. We were greeted by a nice chap behind the bar who asked if we were there for lunch and showed us the chalkboard menu.
We came for the schnitzel. I chose the veal and she chose the chicken, both Jaeger style. Seating is up to you, so we found one under a ceiling fan while waiting on our orders.
It is very hot right now in Grand Cayman, so once a table was cleared closer to a fan on a stool underneath a ceiling fan we moved just in time for our orders to arrive.
We had just a few minutes to take in all of the decor and writing before our orders arrived. Both plates come with cold potato salad that is mustard based, which we both liked. The veal and chicken were perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the gravy was perfect.
The chicken portions are larger than the veal, so we had a to-go box for dinner tonight. We had no potato salad left, though so I think I will make warm shredded red cabbage and fry up some potatoes in bacon grease with bacon bits added to make it like our favorite German restaurant in Huntsville, Alabama-Ol' Heidelburg.
All in all, we really liked the Czech Inn Grill and plan to return again soon before they take a month long break. I do wish that I would have asked to sign the walls or decor. Maybe next time.
This place is the type of unassuming non-tourist trap that I adore. Reminded me of The Pink Pony and Sea & Suds in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The photos and reviews of the other menu items are nice, so maybe we will try other things, but this is our...
Read moreI thought this posted back in April 2024, but guess not.
Stopped in last Sunday on the way from the airport to the north side and sat at the far corner of the bar. George was tending bar and chatting with the locals and others, a true gem he is and what a great spot he and his wife Denise have going. We got vodka mojito's when were excellently made and were so good. Ordered an order of jerk chicken tacos (come two per order)....may I please tell you how much we love our tacos, but these may be the BEST ever even when comparing to street tacos in Mexico though ours at home might be getting an upgrade to how we assemble them to match what Denise does. Romaine lettuce and pico de gallo finely chopped on the bottom of the tortilla then jerk chicken with fresh lime juice and a tangy sauce on top.......OMG were they good. I was scolded by my wife after I actually licked the plate clean to include the savory juices that came from the entire taco. Well done Czech Grill. We even came back on Tuesday for a quick mojito, but quickly got talked into tacos again as a couple we met at Rum Point and told them of the joint actually showed up while we were there. So there George, here is your review I told you I was going to write. Highly recommend this quaint spot, if you pass it you better turn around, just watch out for the chickens and kitty cat in the...
