Let me preface by saying the restaurant had great reviews and the view (and my wife’s wine) was definitely spectacular. We have been to the Caymans several times before, and decided to treat ourselves on our last night during this trip. The staff was courteous, helpful, and professional. That being said, everything else was terrible from our first course. My wife’s martini tasted funky, our caeser salad had a foul taste and the lobster bisque was overly salty with chewy pieces of meat. Conch fritters were under fried as well in my opinion... had eaten them every night at various restaurants and this was the least palatable. We were put off by this point and had lost most of our appetite so we decided to split the surf and turf. We ordered the steak medium and it came out well done (menu said filet but looked like a skirt steak.) Waiter promptly took it back and brought back a second steak - again well done... NO PINK. This would have been less annoying had the waiter not argued the first was cooked properly. A third steak was brought out and actually looked like a filet but by this time we were ready to go home. They took the dinner entree off the tab which was a nice gesture however overall this restaurant definitely did not provide the the 5-star accolades/experience it supposedly offers. To note, there was a wedding going on and perhaps the dining was compromised since the kitchen was busy preparing for that but if that’s the case - they should either shut down the restaurant or be able to maintain standards for the other patrons. Split on whether to give this place a chance on our next trip or not......

Elegence meets the Ocean.

What a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Found Grand Old House via Google search under dinner. Started looking for great reviews and GOH popped up.

I filled out the reservation link and got an immediate email that they would confirm shortly. A short while later I got an email confirmation and asking if it was a special occasion or any food allergies.

I asked if they had a dress code and they quickly answered, “smart casual. Shorts are also fine to wear”.

We arrived and were welcomed by our hostess who then wished us a happy 35th Anniversary.

As we went to our table we noticed the indoor/outdoor areas and a magnificent sunset. They had huge fans that added to the overall comfort. The voews from the terrace are awesome, great picture opportunities. The house sommelier gave us a great recommendation for a whote wine. We ordered the Conch Ceviche & the Lobster Bisque, both were delicious.

I ordered the Filet Mignon and it went cooked a perfect medium. At the end we were surprised with a dessert with Happy Anniversary spelled on the plate and a sparkler. A nice detail. A great experience from...

A very nice & large restaurant by the sea with plenty of seatings. Need reservation for dinner. We had lunch there & the place was empty, it gets busy in the evening. We went next day for dinner. Lunch special was $35 for appetizer or dessert + entree, can be chosen from regular menu too. We had Tuna patty, Vegetables curry with rice, beef soup, red snapper with rice & vegetables. Food was delicious & very good service. For dinner we had corn fed chicken kebab, Rack of lamb & both dishes were delicious. They served complementary bread with main course, could serve the bread before. Food was delicious both days. Tap water is safe to drink in the island, so we asked for tap water, did not buy bottled water. It is an expensive restaurant. Portion size is perfect. They add 18% service charge. Sunset view is amazing from the restaurant. We enjoyed our lunch & dinner here & i recommend this restaurant.

We came here 6 months ago for the first time and the staff have felt like family ever since that first visit. Edgar who manages the wine bar is the absolute…hands down…friendliest, most accommodating person we have ever encountered. He has seriously become like family to us. His wine, rum, and cigar knowledge is unmatched! His wife, Elizabeth is a lovely host and a beautiful person inside and out. The Somm, Lisa, is absolutely SUPERB in her lovely demeanor, love for, and stellar knowledge of wine! She put together two private wine tastings on this trip for us. One was all Italian wines and the other were French wines. The chef put together a truly spectacular tasting menu to pair perfectly with each wine that Lisa chose. We will be back every time that we return to the island for more wine tastings and food pairings! Not to mention, buying the best cigars on island!

My husband and I got the pleasure of eating here while visiting for a work conference. Here is what we loved: - The staff was absolutely amazing. When the rains hit, they quickly moved us to an indoor table. - the views! Completely unobstructed views of the gorgeous ocean. - the food was fantastic. From the conk and lamb appetizers to the lobster bisque to the crab-crusted grouper and the perfectly cooked filet all the way to the lemon raspberry tart and the chocolate tart. It was all amazing. - spot-on service. We never had to flag anyone down or wait long for anything - from an extra napkin, a dropped utensil, butter, another glass of wine…the service was impeccable. What we could change if we could… - the rain…but, alas, we can’t change mother nature.
