Taomiyu Shishang Fish Hall — Restaurant in Shenzhen

I ate the unique/iconic Crunchy fish （脆肉鲩）only once before. I was very excited to come to this restaurant that specializes in the crunchy fish. I was not disappointed! We selected the porridge base for the fish hot pot. The rice was first boiled and scooped up from the porridge before the server dunked the marinated fish bones and fish head into the starchy water. 10 minutes later, fish fillets sliced butterfly style were added. Meanwhile we mixed dipping sauces following the restaurant's recommended recipes. The fish tasted divine! At the end, the server put the boiled rice back in and cooked it more with a couple of picked veggies. We ate the porridge with chopped cilantro and spring onion. Very delicious! As the hot pot set meal was proportioned for 2-3 diners, we ordered the fish belly clay pot in addition. It was the best! The fish belly was a single layer over a pile of garlic cloves and shallots.
