I Visited a famous Indian restaurant in Xi'an called " The Delhi Club", with my Pakistani friend, was an incredible experience that I just had to share. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to a little slice of India right in the heart of China.
The restaurant's ambiance was a delightful surprise. The Indian decorations, the vibrant Indian music, and the television broadcasting Indian shows all came together to create an immersive atmosphere that made us feel like we were truly in India. The effort to present Indian culture to everyone who walked in was evident and added to the charm of the place.
Our culinary adventure began with my Pakistani friend conversing with the restaurant staff in Urdu. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that there was an Indian chef in the kitchen. This made the experience feel even more authentic, and I couldn't wait to see what dishes he would recommend.
Although I've tried Pakistani food before in China, I can say with certainty that the dishes at this restaurant were a cut above the rest. The spices used in the Indian cuisine were simply outstanding, and for someone like me who loves a bit of heat in their food, it was a spicy paradise.
Here are some more details about the dishes we enjoyed:
1- Daal Chana: This dish, made from chickpeas and an array of spices, was a hearty and flavorful vegetarian delight.
2- Mutton Karhai: The Mutton Karhai was a delicious combination of tender mutton pieces cooked with aromatic spices. The rich and savory flavors were truly memorable.
3- Chicken Biryani: The Chicken Biryani, a classic Indian rice dish, was bursting with the fragrant blend of spices and the succulence of the chicken. The "dum" cooking method certainly worked its magic.
4- Chatni Sauce: The chatni sauce, a common condiment in Indian cuisine, added an extra layer of flavor to our meal. Whether sweet, sour, or spicy, it perfectly complemented our dishes.
5- Naan Bread: The Naan bread was soft, fluffy, and served fresh from the tandoor. It was an ideal companion to our curries and added to the authenticity of the meal.
We spent a delightful one hour and fifteen minutes enjoying our food and immersing ourselves in the Indian culinary experience. The highlight of our evening was the chef's generous discount on our bill. It was a kind and unexpected gesture that made us feel truly appreciated.
Our journey through Indian cuisine and culture in the heart of Xi'an was unforgettable. It reminded me of the power of food to bridge cultures and bring people together. If you're ever in Xi'an and love spicy, flavorful food, don't miss the chance to explore...
