I highly recommend a trip to Amarre Beach Club. They have an excellent location, amazing food, and are really mindful of the impact they have on the local community and environment. Location: When visiting Cartagena it can be difficult to find a beautiful, quiet beach to relax and enjoy and ocean. Amarre is on a perfect part of the atierre Bomba island because there is a long stretch of beach and the water is clear and blue and pretty calm. You won’t get harassed by vendors like you would at Playa Blanka. Food & Drink: mouth watering! We got the chicharrón platter abs shrimp platter. Both were phenomenal! They are super filling and every bite is just absolutely delicious. They have some fun and creative cocktails as well. Our favorite was a berry-infused gin that they infused themselves with a local Cartagena gin. Community & Environmental Impact: They seem to hire only local workers from Cartagena and do their best to retain them by giving them opportunities to grow and learn within the beach club. Everything they do at the beach club seems to be with the environmental impact in mind. They started a glass recycling program that they use to create concrete to build with on the island. They also have a water recycling system as well. Horseback riding: the ride was great and tailored to everyone’s riding experience. Those with more experience were allowed to canter ahead of the group and those with less experience were allowed to stay behind to walk at a leisurely pace. Ramiro, our tour guide, was very kind and friendly and quick to accommodate our requests. The highlight was being able to swim with the horses after our trail ride! What a beautiful treat! I’m really impressed with the quality of service and our general experience at Amarre. I absolutely plan to return to enjoy the beach, atmosphere, food, and horses on our next trip to Cartagena!

Pleasant atmosphere, good food and service, nice music, a 25 meter one-lane swimming pool and reasonable pricing. The only two negatives: - on weekdays music is supposed to be background music, but it was still very loud. You need to raise your voice to speak to a person next to you. - while we arrived with two boats of ten persons each, we went back with twenty people on one boat, which was way too much and irresponsible especially considering the relatively rough sea. Good to know: - You can make an online booking with the link they send you through WhatsApp. We could choose between a departure from Cartagena at 9.30 or 10.30 hrs. You need to be at the departure point 10 minutes before departure. It is indicated as "Salida a Amare Beach" on Google Maps. Note that it will (currently) take you about 20-25 minutes by taxi from Getsemeni in the morning, because one of the access roads to Boca Grande is closed, resulting in a lot of traffic jams. - The boat from Amare back to Cartagena leaves around 16.00hrs. - The website mentions a day pass for 165.000COP. In practise, you pay 20.000 to the boatmen and 145.000 to Amare Beach, which includes 115.00 credit for food and beverage. So bottom line, access is "only" 30.000 per person (very reasonable) and the remainder of 115.000 is a minimum for F&B consumption (which is more than enough for food and a couple of drinks). - The beach was much smaller than on the picture. Waves reach until the gate of the club. We did not mind as there is still enough beach inside the club.

Loved the whole experience and highly recommend it! Excellent food and drinks. Pablo the owner was exceptionally friendly. All staff provided faultless service. When it rained, the staff kindly setup a table and chairs under a cabana for us so we could stay dry. We felt the club was secure enough to leave our belongings unattended while swimming. It was a relief to escape the vendors of Cartagena. The prices were very clear from the beginning, so there were no surprises. The beach area in front of the club was clean and the water was very pleasant for swimming. The music was great, and the sound system really nice, but for me personally, it was too loud. There was more of a party vibe than a chill out vibe, but it is a ‘club’ after all. It was too loud to read a book or have a nap, if that was what you wanted. Thanks Pablo and team!

We had a private day party at Amare Beach Club on the day before our wedding. It was one of the most memorable and amazing experiences we’ve had in our lifetimes. The staff there was phenomenally accommodating in the planning process. We organized transport with them via our wedding planner and the owner of Amare met our group at the beach to take us on our quick boat ride over. Once we arrived the staff greeted us and our guests with drinks on the beach and the club was super. It was tremendously well designed, clean and very very comfortable. We had guests of all ages and they all felt safe, joyous and comfortable. The drinks were impeccably made and most importantly the food was phenomenal. The music was great and well played. They have a pool which our guests enjoyed as well as serene beach access. I swam in both the pool and the ocean and loved every minute of it. People came to thank us throughout the event for hosting it at Amare and to be honest all credit goes to Pablo and his amazing staff. We would HIGHLY recommend a visit and definitely a private beach day at Amare if you happen to be hosting a trip to Cartagena for a wedding or other life event. It’s an A+, 12/10, 110%...
