Hotel La Rana — Restaurant in Arenal

My mom, friend and myself had reservations at an Air BnB on Lake Arenal, Nuevo Arenal. The car we had reserved was not available at the appointed time of 8:00am, instead 4:00pm. We set out from Tamarindo at 4:30 and drove to Lake Arenal. It was dark and rainy and we could not locate the house we were supposed to stay in the dark. We were hungry, tired and a bit stressed, so we decided to stop here. It was like a beckon in the darkness. A room and food!!! We could not have asked for anything better. Cold beer! Good food and super clean rooms. When we got to see our surroundings the next morning, our breath was taken away! This is a gem of a restaurant and hotel that deserves all the five stars it has gotten!! We loved this place! The view of Lake Arenal is world class, as well as the hectare of groomed gardens. Our German host and Tico wife were friendly, accommodating and responsive. The entire hotel and restaurant were impeccably clean. For $55/night we received a small but comfortable room, a lovely tiled terrace out our front door with a view across the well tended grounds to the lake less than a kilometer away down a charming country lane, clean towels and sheets every day, with a full hot breakfast including a heaping bowl of fresh fruit, bread, coffe, and eggs. Wiener offered cut fruit to the birds and tolled in Green Honeycreepers, Oropendolas, Bluegrass ray Tanagers, Yellow crowned Euphonia and others: a riot of color on the deck just a few feet away.||The food in the evening is interesting hearty German fare.||All in all, this was one of best stops in our...
