Soda La Peña: A must visit

Soda La Peña is an absolute must-visit! We followed another reviewer's advice and ordered the guacamole, and wow, it was the best I've ever tasted! The blackberry smoothie was incredibly refreshing, and my Hawaiian chicken dish was phenomenal, after exploring countless restaurants and sodas across Costa Rica for the past three weeks, La Peña truly stands out.

My friend loved the generous portion of casada, and another enjoyed the chicken and chips. The owner was charming and friendly, even though there was a language barrier. We loved the laid-back atmosphere and would definitely return if we have the chance. Don't forget to bring a marker to add your name...

Amazing, delicious food! We have been traveling through Costa Rica for 8 days and have eaten at many wonderful sodas during that time—Soda La Peña has been the best so far! We are so happy we found this lovely place. The family that runs it was so warm and kind, the dad was so sweet and joked around with us, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our family of four each ordered a different dish and we all agreed this was the best food we’ve had on the trip, and we have had a lot of tasty food so far! The back deck where we ate was beautiful. We are moving on in our trip but will definitely be back the next time we are in CR. Thank you Peña Family for a wonderful meal...

This was 1 of the best Soda on our entire trip. We were staying in tinamaste and just wanted a quick lunch. I had the beef steak with onion, I asked only for beans and rice. It was a very full and delicious plate. They have a fermented pepper and onion that I added to contribute to a very spicy and tasty meal. My wife had the Pina with ginger smoother and I had the guanaba and both were very good and not too sweet. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend anyone that is passing by to hold out and wait until you arrive at Soda la Pena as this is the...

Located in the laid back hippy town of Tinamastes, soda la Peña serves up fresh local foods at a reasonable price. The papusas are crispy crunchy quesadilla like but using corn masa instead of flour tortillas. I usually accompany my scrambled eggs with the small one. Awesome single made coffees. The casados or plate lunches are big so either bring an appetite or bring a friend. Super friendly hosts and clientele.. Large table in back for groups.
