The waiter is very aggressive and rude and condescending. I think the pasta was made fresh but it was not fully cooked, the pizza was good. We ordered cappuccino but I think it was a latte and I'm not even sure if there was any caffeine in it. It just tasted like warm milk. I tried really hard to be very nice and say please and thank you and smile but no matter what I did he was very aggressively rude. He made us feel like we were a very big inconvenience. The wait time was long , it took a very long to order and very long to get the food and very long to get anything that was missing such as a utensil to actually eat the food . They prepared the bill but then I asked us if we wanted desert, which we did get, then he was angry that he had to rewrite the bill. I don't know why he's mad that he has customers but it was the biggest buzzkill and it ruined our entire evening. We asked for an extra spoon, but that came after we had our dessert and ate it with our hands. I think they need to work on the service, the place is a Cool vibe with wooden tables and a lot of plants but I honestly would never go back based off that service. I understand restaurants can be stressful and I understand maybe they don't like foreigners or whatever the reason is but honestly if someone's trying very hard to be happy and polite i really don't understand why he has to be so...

I had heard great reviews of this place and love that they grow many of their ingredients, unfortunately my experience was not so great. I made a reservation and after a few minutes of standing around wondering where the host is, the waitress acknowledged us and sat us at a lovely table. The outside patio seating is nicely lit and romantic but that's where the fun ends. Our waiter, who turns out is the owner, was extremely rude. He made us feel that we were an annoyance by being there. I asked if we could do half and half for pizza and rudely said No before I could even finish my sentence. Then once we ordered he grabbed the menus aggressively. His energy was so intense and awful and not just to us. The table sitting near us exchanged looks with us during the meal as they were experiencing the same thing. The food was ok, nothing to write home about but it would have been a nice evening still if we were treated nicely. At the end of the meal he brought over two shots of homemade "rosemary liquor" I sipped mine and it was not alcohol but rosemary simple syrup instead. LOL. It was gross! We both left the syrup shots and went home wondering what all the hype was about. I have never been served by someone in that way before, and for that to be the owner,...

worst dining experience in years. My first interaction with the waiter while trying to order was him throwing his hand in my face and running away from the table. 30 minutes later, still being ignored, I continue to watch him be incredibly rude to all my other table mates. Then he claimed he did not know we wanted to order, even though we stood in front of the kitchen to get his attention. Then he told us he put his hand in my face because he was busy. Being in customer service, I found his behavior disgusting. Then after dinner the owner of the restaurant proceeded to justify his rudeness by telling me that they are stressed from the curfew, that we didn't make a reservation (not true), and then they accused my friends of not paying one of their tabs to get us to double dip paying. I had to chase my friends down in the parking lot and have them come back in, and suddenly the owner remembered them paying. great ending to a terrible experience. Oh and they were absolute SNOBS about adding pepperoni to a pizza, get over yourselves ITS JUST PIZZA! I don't care how good your food is not worth your abuse. Plenty of other fabulous and nice restaurants...

Let’s be honest, Tierra y Fuego completely blew us away. The owners, a cute Italian couple, will take you directly to Italy and make you forget you’re in the middle of rural Costa Rica. The truffle pasta was the best pastas we've ever had in Costa Rica; the margarita pizza was perfection, and their limoncello spritz? OMG!!! If only Montezuma weren’t so far from Quepos… we’d be regulars! Thank you for this amazing dinner we had few weeks ago. We still remember the flavors in my mouth. Thank you for this culinary moment. We recommend you on our blog and to everyone around us without hesitation!

One of the very best Italian meals ever! What a warm and inviting place to have a wonderful Italian meal. I would not have expected to find one of the very best Italian meals in the world in Montezuma, Costa Rica, but we did. What a warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly and genuine service, and Italian food that is as good as anywhere (Italy, New York, Chicago as points of comparison). We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great dining experience!

It's a short taxi up the hill and well worth it. Tierra y Fuego is full of charm with outdoor seating beneath a canopy of trees and lights. Their service is impeccable, and their food delicious. We had one of their appetizer specials- bruschetta with goat cheese and honey- and the bolognese and pumpkin ravioli entrees. Get the flan with blackberry marmalade- you won't regret it!
