Tried to make reservations online at their website since they were closed. Online reservation system is confusing as you just put in a date and time of your preference. We never received an email or confirmation that the reservation was even received by the restaurant. Tried to call to confirm that the reservation was received and there was no answer. When we arrived they said that there was no reservation and that you would receive an email if your reservation was accepted. This was very confusing as there was no direction on the website about next steps or how to confirm the reservation was made and confirmed. We were told that they could still accommodate us, but it would be 5-10 mins as they set up the table. We waited about 20 minutes and they were sitting large parties that did not have reservations either. I went up and asked them if my table was ready and they told me that I wasn’t even on the list for a table….i was eventually given a table but felt as though they were very bothered to even have to deal with myself and partner. Service was lackluster. We waited 10 minutes to even receive a menu. Another 10 minutes went by before our drink order was even taken. Drinks sat empty half of the night until the owners made their appearance (explained later). Server seemed bothered by us and it got to the point that we were so uncomfortable that we almost left. We are glad we sucked up the terrible service however. The food was incredible. We started with the Mac n cheese tapas and it was so cheesy and delicious. My husband ordered the burger and loved it! I opted for a Caesar salad and although good , I was a little disappointed as there was no croutons, no Parmesan, had tomato (?), and had both Caesar dressing and balsamic glaze all over the top. It was not how described on the menu but decent overall. As stated earlier service was horrible at the beginning. We were the only 2 at the bar when we arrived and were told to wait for a table. Took 5 minutes to even be acknowledged and 15 minutes to even received our drinks after ordering (we were the only two at the bar). Staff was not friendly and as stated left us so uncomfortable that we almost left. However, the owners came by halfway through our meal and the service improved drastically. Our server suddenly was checking in on us. We were checked in on for the first time. We were being greeted with a smile rather than a sour look. The owner did come over and check in on us which we appreciated. It is great to see ownership involved and working alongside their staff. Please be aware though that your staff has a totally different energy when you are not there. This is a beautiful place and the menu is incredible but the service makes you not want to come back unless you can be sure that...

Gracia at Mar Vista is an unparalleled dining experience that embodies the essence of Costa Rica's vibrant culinary scene. From its captivating atmosphere to its impeccable service and exquisite cuisine, this restaurant leaves a lasting impression on every guest.

Atmosphere: 5/5 Nestled against the backdrop of the ocean, Gracia at Mar Vista offers a breathtaking setting that sets the stage for an unforgettable evening. As you approach the restaurant, the sweeping views of the ocean immediately captivate your senses, creating a serene and inviting ambiance that complements the dining experience perfectly.

Service: 5/5 From the moment we arrived, the service at Gracia was nothing short of exceptional. The owner, Frankie, personally welcomed us and took the time to discuss the menu, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was tailored to perfection. Throughout the evening, the attentive staff went above and beyond to ensure that we felt pampered and well taken care of, adding an extra layer of warmth and hospitality to our meal.

Food: 5/5 Our decision to entrust Frankie with our culinary journey was met with an array of sensational dishes that showcased the best of Costa Rican cuisine. From the freshest seafood to locally sourced ingredients bursting with flavor, each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. With each bite, we were transported on a gastronomic adventure that tantalized our taste buds and left us craving more.

We were so looking forward to our sunset dinner at Gracia Mar Vista. I had a reservation for 5:00pm (confirmed at 10:30am) and we decided to arrive early (at 3:00pm) and enjoy the infinity pool and have a couple of drinks before dinner. When we arrived, I confirmed our dinner reservation and requested a table up front to view the sunset. Spicy margaritas at the pool bar were on-point and the afternoon was going perfectly. We changed for dinner, arrived at the podium to be seated at 4:45pm, and noted my name was first on the reservation list... we were then led to a table in the back row ... we asked instead to be seated at the table in front of us which had a much better view of the sunset, only to be told the people had reserved that specific table five days ago... disappointed (remember we were first on the reservation list and had been there since 3:00pm and asked to be seated up front) we sat down to enjoy the sunset. We wondered why we had been given a sub-par table despite being first on the reservation list and had arrived early to be seated. At 5:15pm three gringos arrived to the table we had requested so we asked them when they made their reservation - lo and behold they made it that morning!!!! We confronted the waiter (Luis) who had flat-out lied to us and he had nothing to say. In fact he pretended to not speak any English all of a sudden. The manager, David, apologized but was smirking the whole time. Not sure why we were treated so poorly and disrespectfully. We were anticipating a lovely dinner experience and our evening was ruined. Needless to say, we didn't order any dinner and we won't ever return. There are many other wonderful restaurants in the area (La Forketta, Coco Loco, The Beach House and Hemingways to name a few) and I suggest you check those...

We visit Costa Rica 3-4 times a year and this is probably our favorite restaurant in the country, especially if you can make it in the green season when it's less crowded. We come here every time we're in the area. It's located in the Mar Vista Residential Community but still open to the public. Just tell the guard at the security gate you're going to Gracia and he'll let you through. He may ask for your ID so be sure to have it ready. The restaurant has an infinity pool for you to enjoy while you dine. It's fairly quiet in the day but get's busy at sunset. Make a reservation in the high season because it fills up quickly and walk-ins are often turned away. The food and service are excellent. They offer a good selection of appetizers and also some larger main dishes. We always opt for more flavors and get 4-5 small plates. The bacon wrapped dates and poke are some of out favorites, but we've never had a bad bite. On our second visit, we got to our car only to realize our battery had died. Luis went above and beyond to help us jump the car so we could make it back to our condo. We've since seen him on multiple visits and he always remembers us. Another shout out to Kevin for his warm welcomes and good vibes. We've only had two service fails in our 6+ visits, funny enough only when ordering chiliguaro shots. Both times the staff handled it well and we look forward to being back there in a few months. I recently celebrated my mom's birthday at Garcia at Mar Vista, and it was an unforgettable experience. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the breathtaking view, which was simply spectacular. I highly recommend going for a sunset dinner, as the ambiance and setting are perfect for a special occasion. The food was exceptional—so much so that I ordered seconds to take back to my resort. Each dish was flavorful and expertly prepared, making it clear why this place comes highly recommended. The drinks complemented the meal perfectly and were crafted with just as much care. A notable touch was the policy at 5:30 PM when they clear the pool area, ensuring unobstructed views and a pristine backdrop for photos. This small detail made a big difference in enhancing the overall experience. Overall, Garcia at Mar Vista provided a memorable evening with incredible views, outstanding food, and excellent service. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience with a view to match.
