Tried to make reservations online at their website since they were closed. Online reservation system is confusing as you just put in a date and time of your preference. We never received an email or confirmation that the reservation was even received by the restaurant. Tried to call to confirm that the reservation was received and there was no answer. When we arrived they said that there was no reservation and that you would receive an email if your reservation was accepted. This was very confusing as there was no direction on the website about next steps or how to confirm the reservation was made and confirmed. We were told that they could still accommodate us, but it would be 5-10 mins as they set up the table. We waited about 20 minutes and they were sitting large parties that did not have reservations either. I went up and asked them if my table was ready and they told me that I wasn’t even on the list for a table….i was eventually given a table but felt as though they were very bothered to even have to deal with myself and partner. Service was lackluster. We waited 10 minutes to even receive a menu. Another 10 minutes went by before our drink order was even taken. Drinks sat empty half of the night until the owners made their appearance (explained later). Server seemed bothered by us and it got to the point that we were so uncomfortable that we almost left. We are glad we sucked up the terrible service however. The food was incredible. We started with the Mac n cheese tapas and it was so cheesy and delicious. My husband ordered the burger and loved it! I opted for a Caesar salad and although good , I was a little disappointed as there was no croutons, no Parmesan, had tomato (?), and had both Caesar dressing and balsamic glaze all over the top. It was not how described on the menu but decent overall. As stated earlier service was horrible at the beginning. We were the only 2 at the bar when we arrived and were told to wait for a table. Took 5 minutes to even be acknowledged and 15 minutes to even received our drinks after ordering (we were the only two at the bar). Staff was not friendly and as stated left us so uncomfortable that we almost left. However, the owners came by halfway through our meal and the service improved drastically. Our server suddenly was checking in on us. We were checked in on for the first time. We were being greeted with a smile rather than a sour look. The owner did come over and check in on us which we appreciated. It is great to see ownership involved and working alongside their staff. Please be aware though that your staff has a totally different energy when you are not there. This is a beautiful place and the menu is incredible but the service makes you not want to come back unless you can be sure that...

Read moreWe were so looking forward to our sunset dinner at Gracia Mar Vista. I had a reservation for 5:00pm (confirmed at 10:30am) and we decided to arrive early (at 3:00pm) and enjoy the infinity pool and have a couple of drinks before dinner. When we arrived, I confirmed our dinner reservation and requested a table up front to view the sunset. Spicy margaritas at the pool bar were on-point and the afternoon was going perfectly. We changed for dinner, arrived at the podium to be seated at 4:45pm, and noted my name was first on the reservation list... we were then led to a table in the back row ... we asked instead to be seated at the table in front of us which had a much better view of the sunset, only to be told the people had reserved that specific table five days ago... disappointed (remember we were first on the reservation list and had been there since 3:00pm and asked to be seated up front) we sat down to enjoy the sunset. We wondered why we had been given a sub-par table despite being first on the reservation list and had arrived early to be seated. At 5:15pm three gringos arrived to the table we had requested so we asked them when they made their reservation - lo and behold they made it that morning!!!! We confronted the waiter (Luis) who had flat-out lied to us and he had nothing to say. In fact he pretended to not speak any English all of a sudden. The manager, David, apologized but was smirking the whole time. Not sure why we were treated so poorly and disrespectfully. We were anticipating a lovely dinner experience and our evening was ruined. Needless to say, we didn't order any dinner and we won't ever return. There are many other wonderful restaurants in the area (La Forketta, Coco Loco, The Beach House and Hemingways to name a few) and I suggest you check those...
