A Local Treasure Worth Stopping For

This cozy little restaurant is a true gem—set in front of a quiet river with a jungle backdrop that gives it a unique, laid-back charm. It’s the kind of place that feels real, local, and full of character. Roberto, the owner, chef, and waiter all in one, cooks everything just a few steps away from you with a big smile and a lot of heart.

This isn’t a place for luxury—it’s a place for love and heart. As Roberto says himself, “Nada de lujos, solo amor del corazón.” The food is truly tasty, with a wide range to choose from: meats and fish of your choice, fresh sides, and delicious grilled ribs. You can enjoy a refreshing smoothie, an ice-cold beer, or even a bottle of wine while relaxing to fantastic music.

If you’re visiting nearby waterfalls or just passing through, it’s the perfect spot to sit back, enjoy a lovingly made meal, and soak in the...

The drive up to Roberto’s Place is interesting. When the pavement ends you keep going. We just yelled Roberto and he came to us to direct us into his little haven. This new luncheon place is right next to Cacao Santo which provides a wonderful family run tour and discussion of cacao and more. Roberto pulled out what he had on hand today and we had rice and beans, ribs, shrimp and fries and of course plantains. This seems as authentic a CR experience as you might get. He cooks over an open wood fire and the meal appears magically. Roberto is a one man entrepreneur two months only into this venture. We will be back whenever in the area. Cash only...

My husband and I had lunch at Roberto’s Place after hiking through the jungle and exploring the waterfalls. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious!! I cleaned my entire plate! Aside from the food, the atmosphere was amazing and relaxing (especially after that hike!). I definitely cant leave this review without mentioning how kind and attentive Roberto was. He really went above and beyond to give us incredible service. When it was time to leave, it felt a little sad. Like I was saying goodbye to a dear family member.

If you are in Jaco, Roberto’s Place is a must! I will definitely come back when in...

I ate here after hiking in the morning at the waterfall nearby. Got a flat tire with my bike and they offered to drive me back to town thankfully The food was amazing and very good priced It’s also very beautiful. Coming back for dinner later this week for sure.
