We went to Élevé at Barons Resort for the Mother’s Day dinner and Tango show 💃🎶. The location is jaw dropping 🌄 high in the mountains of Atenas with views for days. The service was top notch 👌.
Joxan and his crew made us feel at home from the start 🥂. The singer and Tango dancers were absolutely fantastic. My mom left happy ❤️ and that was the whole reason we came.
Now about the food… The first course was basically tomato salsa heated up with basil, parmesan and what I will call supercroutons 🍅🧀🥖. Basically tortilla chip dip in a tuxedo. Shockingly delicious but still salsa soup. The main dish was tasty but tiny 🍖🥔. For an Argentine themed night I was expecting churrasco which everywhere else means skirt steak. In Costa Rica it apparently means chef’s surprise 🎁.
While we were waiting to be seated we could smell and hear all the meat being cooked 🔥👂. We had to jump in and tell the waiter my mom needed hers well done otherwise she would have been stuck sending it back. Luckily she got her steak the way she wanted. Dessert was coconut flan 🥥🍮 and it was spot on.
The drinks are where the wallet cried 😅🍸. Two rounds for four adults added seventy five thousand colones. The total bill was one hundred seventy five thousand colones which is about three hundred dollars 💸. The cocktails were small and missing ingredients. An old fashioned came with chipped ice 🧊. Not a crime but definitely not premium for the price.
Advice from one business owner to another 💼. People eat with their eyes 👀. A little salad 🥗 and some bread with butter 🥖🧈 would have made the three course menu feel like five. Guests would leave full instead of Googling empanada shops on the way home. Ask people how they want their meat cooked. If timing is tough, pre cook to medium rare and finish at service instead of serving meat that had been waiting. Serve plates between dance sets so the show and dinner feel like one complete experience 🎭🍽️.
Bottom line ✅. Everything we ate was delicious. The team was fantastic 🙌. The show was excellent. The location is unbeatable 🌟. I left hungry yes 🤷♂️ but I also left smiling 😁. Expensive yes 💵 but memorable. With a little more planning and a bit more abundance on the plates this could be one of the best nights out in Atenas. And I will forever laugh about the evening I learned that tomato salsa soup actually...

We had planned to eat here during our trip, but nearly skipped it after realizing we hadn’t made a reservation. On a whim, we called—and the owner couldn’t have been more lovely, fitting us in at the last minute. So glad we did! This was not only our best dining experience in Costa Rica, but one of the best we’ve had anywhere in a long time. Everything was perfect—from the mouthwatering food and exceptional service to the warm atmosphere and breathtaking view. Many places in the area claim to have the best views, but Restaurant Elevé truly delivers. Joxan and the entire team were attentive and welcoming. The specials all sounded amazing—we wish we could have tried them all! From the fresh bread to the perfectly balanced drinks to the very last bite, everything was outstanding. I wish we had more photos to share but we were too busy enjoying the food! My husband and I had non-alcoholic cocktails, and the fresh ingredients made them so delicious we didn’t miss the alcohol at all. To top it off, Joxan shared thoughtful, personalized recommendations for the next leg of our trip, which we greatly appreciated. If you’re in the area, do not miss Restaurant Elevé—you’ll thank...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place. The location is great at the top of the hill with a great view. Nice ambience. I got there right when they opened. Two things that I wanted to order they didn’t have in stock including filet mignon. The waitress recommended their pork ribs. Not what I wanted, but I agreed.
I had to wait almost about 45 minutes for them to come and serve me. Unfortunately, the pork ribs were either very overcooked or completely undercooked. I’m not sure except that it was just rock hard. You could not cut through with a knife!!
When I complained the gentleman that came to check on me said “oh well everybody loves our ribs” which was insulting because obviously there’s a problem if I can’t cut the meat so I did not like the response.
I had a bite of the salad and yucca that were on the side and both were delicious, but unfortunately the meat was inedible.
Because of the weird response about everyone loving this dish I decided to just leave. I was pretty unhappy because I was starving and I have been there for over an hour and a half hoping to have...
