Marina Papagayo — Restaurant in Provincia Guanacaste

REALLY BAD SERVICE

I have been a customer at Marina Papagayo for many years. Since it opened. We hace visited the marina about 6 to 7 times a year and have always used several of their services. The guys at the fuel ⛽️ station are really nice and always willing to help.

I cannot say the same about the staff at the Marina Restaurant. The small one just beside the dock. After being a loyal customer for many years, last week me and my family came in and sat down as always.

After placing our order, suddenly the manager came out and where asked to leave the restaurant just because my 9 year old daughter was not wearing sandals. We had just gotten off the boat and she forgot the at home.

We tried to reason with the manager but it was not possible.

We asked if we could buy sandals at the marina store, but ironically they don’t carry sandals, even though they carry many different types of clothing and boat accesories.

We realized that the restaurant did not display anywhere that you need sandals to enter. So there is no way to know about it.

No reasoning with the manager. Mr Olger, the manager will ask you to leave.

No sandals = no service.

By the way the restaurant was empty. No other customers.

Well, just wanted everyone to remember NOT TO FORGET YOUR SANDALS, or you will be treated like a unwelcome customer, even if you have been a loyal customer since the place opened and even though there is no way to know about this...

We spent 6 enjoyable months here during rainy season. Despite being deserted most of the time we enjoyed the pool and anchoring nearby. The power was steady and the water clean and plentiful. There was some unexpected surge for almost a week, but the lightning doesn't come near. We were able to get some work done on the boat including have a crew come from Quepos. You should rent a car for long stays as town is a half hour away. Enterprise...

I did not utilize the marina but rather simply posting about the beautiful spot and location of the quiet marina. It is located in a quiet bay and everyone seems quite friendly. The roads on the way is seem a bit steep but are quite accessible for almost any type of vehicle. I am sure that the amenities of this Marina are up to par or better than most common marinas. Once here you will have a beautiful view....
