HiR Fine Dining — Restaurant in Tamarindo

When I say that this was the best food I have ever eaten, I am not exaggerating. Eating the food here made me rethink what I eat on a daily basis. I absolutely can’t put into words how amazing the experience was. Picture a five star meal, different than anything you have ever tasted, served in the middle of the jungle in a way so casual that you can actually enjoy yourself and relax...and this touches the surface of what a meal here is like. The wine pairings were fantastic, the flavors were unusual and unique, and I tasted things I never dreamed I would ever taste that I will crave until I can go back one day! The most impressive thing perhaps was that I have eaten catfish hundreds of times, as it’s a staple food in Florida where I am from, but Noam prepared it and I didn’t even recognize it! It was buttery, flavorful, and downright unbelievable! If you want to treat yourself to a real dining experience, look no further. My father arranged for my husband and I to visit here on our honeymoon and it was one of our favorite parts of the entire trip. I hope to bring my whole family back here one day so that we can experience it together. I know I won’t have a better meal until I return...

What a fascinating and fun meal that Mercy laid on for us! She was a terrific host, full of boundless energy and interest in her guests. Prepare to become part of the evening - the family style sit down quickly made us all feel right at home. Mercy welcomes feedback as we go however we were quite content to mostly just enjoy the surroundings (beautiful original artworks adorning the walls and doors - make sure to ask more) and the food. Really impressive and creative output from a self taught chef.

It was most interesting to learn about the amount of thought that goes into the dishes that Mercy prepares. Each has some sort of back story or details as to how it came to be/evolved into current form.

Mercy's residence is simple but pretty. The grounds glowed in the afternoon light and we almost missed the sunset as we talked and enjoyed the meal.

We had nine people join Mercy's jungle dinner party. It was an incredibly unique experience for us, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved Mercy's creativity, passion and food. The uniqueness of the dishes had beautiful presentations and unique flavor contrasts, and had our group debating on what we liked best, what dishes were amazing, which were misses (none for me). I should also state that Mercy was amazing to work with -- Mercy was not only incredibly patient and understanding with me and our group (we had some logistical challenges), and Mercy recommended other chefs to cook in our rental house, one of which we hired and was wonderful. This is not a highly refined dining experience, but it is one of most unique experiences I have had, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. ...
