Poor Food / Pathetic Service / Discriminatory Service This was the worst restaurant experience in probably the last 5 years. That this restaurant is anywhere close to a Guide Michelin and Gault Millau recommendation is a complete disgrace. But let's go layer by layer into this pathetic evening.

POOR FOOD The beef soup tasted like someone had thrown a packaged soup cube from the supermarket into hot water and added some noodles.

For the main course my wife had chicken with pasta. The chicken was nothing special, whereas the noodles were overcooked, probably lying around for hours and entirely tasteless. See the picture. Every corporate cantina gets this better.

I had a steak, the meat was OK (no complaints), yet the mushrooms on the side (see picture in front of the empty wine) were disgusting and not edible.

Our son had pljukanci with mushrooms which where lack of cooking skill was compensated with over-seasoning.

We saw that a lot of guests did not finish their meal, which is quite uncommon given a Gault Millau restaurant which is supposed to create delicious meals that anyone would enjoy until the very last piece.

PATHETIC SERVICE

The concept is announcing the dishes of the day at the table. Fair enough, still we felt rushed as soon as we had sat down to make a hasty choice. Moreover, our waiter with big bravado tried to sell us the yummy veal on potatoes and the yummy chicken on potatoes as the speciality of the night when the other waiter had to jump in to to correct him that the veal was out and there was only once portion of the chicken left (see above). For the record: It was 7 pm in the evening and we had a confirmed reservation.

Regarding the set on the table: The salt was entirely empty where we had to ask for a replacement, the vinegar was 7/8 empty.

As we politely declined the sparkling wine as aperitif from the waiter and said we would focus on the regular wine, our waiter didn't even bother to offer any of it. Instead, we had to ask the other waiter (the one mentioned above) to bring us 0.5 litres of open wine. So the "broad choices of wine" mentioned in the other ratings will forever remain a mystery to us. Once our water bottle was empty, our waiter would take it without even bothering to ask if we wanted another one. Given this low level of attitude, it's unnecessary to mention that nobody would ever refill our empty glasses.

DISCRIMINATORY SERVICE

Depending on the grace of the moment, the waiter would treat different guests differently. A French group on the table to my left was offered starters of ham and cheese, whereas for us he just had soup to start with in store.

To add insult to injury, but in the broader scheme of things irrelevant, the waiter would offer other guests behind us at the end of the dish the customary free digestif. None for us.

Summary: This restaurant has to be avoided...

So unprofessional...never had such a dissapointing experience. Unfortunately....some time ago this was a good restaurant. Now it is getting lower and lower. I think the owner is not really interested any more. Terrible experience...we booked a table few days in advance and I have also ordered a food. I spoke with the owner on the phone and asked for the table and I also asked is it possible to order a fish for dinner. He was very polite and he said there s no problem. We also discussed how they're gonna prepare the fish. He said that they will show us the fish and we will decide how to prepare it on the spot. When we arrived at the restaurant few days after our conversation...nobody knew about the reservation and also...they said they don t have a fish which we ordered...but they will think of something. They offered us the same kind od meal we ate there for a few times before....I really believe they do have only two or three types of meal and do not bother to do anything about that. The meal was extremely expensive and the fish was raw....that was not a grilled fish or I have never eaten one in my life...that was raw...the eyes were glassy and the head of the fish smelled on fresh salt and sea water...like a fish in the fish market. We were extremely disapointed....and that was our goodbye with that unprofessional and pricy place forever. That was a really good resraurant some years ago. Don t go there...there are so many better places you can spend your money...and still feel respected and enjoy good...

We dined here on our third night in Zagreb and our experience blew away the other two places we dined in town that came highly recommended. It was worth the short ride from town to come here. The staff was warm and welcoming upon our arrival. We entered into a lovely atrium full of diners. Our table was inside the main building which was quite old and charming. Our waiter was warm and funny. The only written menu is on a chalkboard written in Croatian in the atrium. Our waiter recited all of the dishes and escorted us to the selection of seafood on ice to discuss our options. We discussed our wine preferences and he suggested a perfect local wine to accompany our meal. We over ordered on apps we were expecting smaller portions. The prosciutto was divine and the thin sliced smoked tuna and carpaccio (sea bass?) were also delicious. We shared a salad of ripe tomatoes and lettuces and my husband had the corn soup. For entrees we had filet mignon (cooked perfectly), sea bass and monk fish. All were thrilled with their selections. The accompanying vegetables and potatoes were also great. For dessert we had a plum strudel and a pistachio mousse-like dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience from...

When we got there we asked our waiter to give us a menu. He refused saying he is our menu guide for the day. We ordered three portions of pljukanci with rabbit and two becki odrezak (wiener schnitzels). We were not sure if they served us a rabbit or tuna, the taste was exactly the same. The wiener schnitzel was over fried and tasteless. The plates were not pristine clean (see photo), the waiter was very cocky with his remarks. When we gave us the bill, they charged 140 kunas for boškarin even though we ate rabbit; apparently the price is the same and they don't have the rabbit on the menu. Needless to say, this price did not match any of the prices on the menu found online. This is by far the worst experience I ever had visiting any restaurant in Zagreb. Avoid by all means.

I think it’s important to understand there is no printed menu or prices. We ended up paying $250 for pasta with lobster for two. We repeatedly told them nothing too big but….. it was enough for 5 people. Food was very good and ambience was lovely. Be advised there is no printed wine or food menu and no prices. They saw Americans coming and literally took advantage of us. Very disappointing!!!
