My husband and I were recommended to this place by our host in Dubrovnik. The food was delicious, the prices fair, and unbeatable service! I definitely recommend calling for a reservation as they are quite popular. Also, note that they close the kitchen around 10. Overall, a lovely place! Let me first note that I am not a huge fan of fish or seafood. This place changed my mind! We got a bottle of the house red, very nice, nothing extravagant, but for the price it was lovely. We ordered a greek salad, the fish plate for two, and the apple pie. Like I said, I'm no fish fan or expert but this was the best I've had, ever. The plate included a local whitefish, mussels, swordfish, shrimps, and scampi all grilled to perfection. It even came with a side of brussel sprouts that were in a puree, my new favorite form! Aside from the food, the service was spectacular! Unfortunately, I am unable to remember our servers name, but he was full of life and always made us feel like we were the most important table in the place. If we come back to Dubrovnik, I will definitely have...
Read moreIf you are staying in Old Town, do yourself a favor and Uber out to this place! From start to finish, it was a remarkable dining experience, our top meal in Dubrovnik. The restaurant is the definition of attention to detail. Our waiter was absolutely delightful, very attentive, gave excellent recommendations, and stayed at our table chatting with us well after the meal was over. He recommended an excellent wine that paired well with the meal. We started with the Captain’s Platter- smoked tuna and swordfish (who knew I needed smoked swordfish in my life?) with reduced balsamic vinegar and cherry tomatoes. For our main course, we ordered the Bonoca fish plate for two. A large bowl of mussels on the side accompanied the giant platter filled with seafood (a whole grilled sea bass, two pieces of swordfish, a whole sea bream, prawns, scallops, calamari, and octopus). Everything was delicious. It was topped off with a gratis digestif. We met the owner after the meal, and he was just as charming as our waiter. Do not...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our experience at Konoba Bonaca and couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant for our last night in Dubrovnik. Our table was decorated with a bouquet of beautiful florals and you immediately feel at home upon entering the restaurant. We ordered a few glasses of the local Croatian sparkling wine as well as a mixed seafood and meat platter (the octopus salad was our favorite) and the daily fresh fish which was grilled sea bass and amberjack. The prices were more than fair for the portions of food we were served. Our exceptional food was accompanied by exceptional service from Jako. His hospitality, kindness, and attention to detail made our meal that much more enjoyable.
Thank you to the entire team at Konoba Bonaca! We cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Please make an effort to visit if you have the chance to visit Dubrovnik. If we didn’t have to leave, we would’ve definitely chosen...
