I had the pleasure of visiting Ristorante Palmizana Meneghello during my trip to the island of Palmizana, just off the coast of Hvar. This hidden gem offers much more than just a meal; it's an enchanting fusion of art gallery and culinary delight.
Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the stunning collection of sculptures and paintings created by local artists. The restaurant truly showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Meneghello family, who have been dedicated to creating a paradise of cultural tourism since 1906.
I visited the restaurant during lunchtime, taking a break from the beautiful beach and snorkeling activities nearby. The staff at Palmizana Meneghello were remarkable, speaking English, Italian, and German fluently, and the owner, Romina what a charmer!! She told me all about the family history and local origin of the food. Their friendly and attentive service added an extra touch of warmth to my dining experience.
As for the food, I indulged in several delectable dishes from their diverse menu. The bruschetta options were exceptional, with the sa cesniakom (garlic bread) and s rajcicom i bosiljkom (tomatoes and basil) being my personal favorites. The salads, especially the velika mjesana salata (large mixed salad) and mijesana salata s incunima i maslinama (mixed salad with anchovies and olives), were fresh and flavorful.
For the main course, I savored the pasta with seafood, specifically the tjestenina s umakom od rajcice, rapara i slanih incuna (pasta with tomato sauce, capers, and anchovies). The seafood was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were a true delight.
The restaurant's commitment to locally sourced ingredients was evident in every bite. The quality and taste of the food exceeded my expectations, and the portion sizes were satisfying.
I must also commend the restaurant for its wonderful selections of music, which further enhanced my dining experience.
Ristorante Palmizana Meneghello is more than just a place to enjoy a meal; it's an immersive experience that leaves a lasting impression. The combination of art, ambiance, and culinary expertise creates a truly unique atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion.

Read moreWe’ve been coming to Meneghello Palmizana for years, and every visit feels like returning to a piece of paradise. The restaurant, bungalows, and the entire experience never fail to impress — the setting, the people, the food, and the atmosphere are truly exceptional. The bungalows are spectacularly clean, beautifully maintained, and nestled in lush, exotic gardens filled with plants from all over the world, lovingly planted by the Meneghello family’s grandfather. It gives the whole property a uniquely magical and tropical feel, unlike anywhere else on the Adriatic. The restaurant is a true culinary gem. Whether you're here for a romantic dinner or a leisurely lunch, the dishes are always fresh, flavorful, and presented with care. We highly recommend trying the gregada — a traditional Dalmatian fish stew that’s rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. The grilled calamari is tender, smoky, and simply melts in your mouth. The San Pier is another standout — perfectly prepared and seasoned to highlight the freshness of the fish. And of course, if you’re in the mood to indulge, the lobster is a must – sweet, juicy, and unforgettable. Adding to the charm, Meneghello Palmizana is also an art gallery, with beautiful pieces displayed throughout the property. Art and nature blend seamlessly here, creating an atmosphere that inspires relaxation, reflection, and admiration. What makes Palmizana even more special is the warmth and friendliness of everyone here. The Meneghello family and their team make you feel like part of their world — always welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. This place holds a very special place in our hearts. We come back year after year, and we’re never disappointed. If you're dreaming of a tranquil escape with world-class food, exotic gardens, beautiful surroundings, and crystal-clear water —...
Read moreIf I could give zero star, I would. We had a dead fly in our food, and the owner and her employees all acted it's nothing concerning.
My partner and I ordered fish and potato stew. We were drinking the soup when I saw a dead fly in my plate. We called our waitress over, and she said we were out in the nature, so it's not surprising to have dead flies in food. Didn't apologize at all, and tried to blame it on us. She said the fly dropped in when we were eating outside, not during cooking, because their restaurant was "hygenic".
We asked for the owner. Owner said the dish was cooked over open fire, so "it happens". Again not apologetic at all. She asked where I was from. I said where I was from, it's not okay to have dead fly in food. And then the owner said she'd offer discount. When we got the bill, she took 60 kn off a bill over 400, and said she took 20% off. When I was complaining to her, her employees made comments right in front of us, saying we were making too big a fuss for "a little dead bee".
I would strongly recommend anyone who doesn't want dead flies in their food on holiday...
