It’s a real shame, but Croatia is becoming more and more expensive — even here in Tivoli. I can afford it, but quite honestly, I don't want to support this trend. The rising prices, pushed by the government, shops, and restaurant owners, are becoming unreasonable.
My daughter and her boyfriend are currently in Pula. When they saw the new prices, they immediately turned around, went to the supermarket, bought some ćevapi, cooked it themselves — and it turned out delicious. Like many others, they’re fed up with the absurd pricing.
For example, charging €6.40 for half a liter of Coca-Cola — poured from a bottle — is outrageous. I’m not at someone’s house where I expect a casual pour from the fridge. This is a restaurant, and that kind of pricing feels insulting.
As someone who is half Dutch and half Yugoslav, I know exactly where this country came from and how affordable things used to be. Sadly, what I now see is arrogance disguised as tourism development. My family and I refuse to normalize something that just isn’t normal.
No hate — just honesty. But if the prices continue to climb like this, you will lose people like us. I sincerely recommend travelers to consider other destinations: Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania, and Turkey — places where you still get value for your money.
Simply put: don’t support countries...
Read moreFood and service are great but I have to give this rating because the heat, in most of the restaurant, is unbearable. During the summer months, around lunchtime, you really can't sit anywhere with a decent temperature. There is an outside terrace which gets a breeze sometimes, while indoors there are two areas. The entrance hall seems to be better, but the larger one was very hot, I would reckon 40°C, or worse, in the shade, indoors! I reckon there are three reasons it gets this bad: 1. lack of air-conditioning in the big room, only one AC unit, this isn't enough at all!. 2. the roof seems to be made from sheet metal, meaning there is no insulation at all, it just heats up and acts as an oven, cooking the visitors. 3. For some reason the staff kept the front doors open, they might have a practical reason for this but it means the AC will never get a chance to function properly. Prop to the staff for working in these conditions, it can't be easy. The pizza was tasty, eating it in these conditions was exhausting. I'm afraid someone, possibly an elderly person, is going to get very ill from the heat and will have to go to the hospital. If the owners fix this then I will amend my rating. It's really a great pizzeria, probably the best in Pula, but this one thing ruins the...
Read moreWe recently had lunch at this cozy pizzeria and overall, it was a very good experience. The pizza was quite enjoyable – the dough wasn’t the traditional Neapolitan style, leaning more toward a bread-like texture, but it was still satisfying. The ingredients were fresh and decent, though nothing particularly stood out. One small letdown was the garlic in oil – it would’ve been much better with olive oil for a richer flavor.
On the upside, the chicken salad was a pleasant surprise – flavorful, fresh, and nicely balanced. A great option if you're looking for something lighter.
What really made the experience stand out was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our meal, making us feel very welcome.
All in all, it’s a solid choice for a casual and enjoyable lunch. While the food isn’t groundbreaking, the warm service and relaxed atmosphere definitely make it a place worth visiting....
