Konoba Istriana — Restaurant in Općina Medulin

After having an excellent experience I decided to give a rather constructive feedback:

Food: I ordered the seafood in pot “more u padeli” for 2 people, as you can see on the picture. The dish was excellent, light and not overloaded with heavy sauce. As a matter of fact, the sauce - fish broth, parsley and oil - soaked in bread was delicious and fits together well with the whole dish. It says for 2 people and it is indeed enough for 2. So all expectations met!

Price: well priced food, not expensive, you pay for what you get - reasonable price for excellent food

Environment: calm, rather rural surroundings, inside as well as outside area around the restaurant was very pleasant.

Service: very pleasant and professional. The thing I liked most was that when a mate was choosing a fish, the waiter brought us raw fish and we could choose which one we would like to have prepared and served. Everybody seems to speak multiple languages.

Went there on two occasions. First time we had tuna steak and squids on grill which were pretty good. Following that experience we decided to try their octopus under "peka" which needed to be ordered one day in advance and at exact time so they can prepare it properly. We went there with friends as minimum amount of people they prepare it for is 4. Something definitely went wrong as they did put it on the table at exact time they said but the meal was totally burnt at the bottom and even the pieces at top that were not burnt were a bit dry and chewy. War mal ein echter Geheimtipp, aber das ist Vergangenheit! Viele hier waren wahrscheinlich noch nie so richtig authentisch gut essen in Istrien, nur so kann ich mir die guten Rezessionen erklären… Seit 2015 fahren wir jährlich nach Istrien und kennen nun schon einige ausgezeichnete Konobas, wo eben fast nur Einheimische essen gingen und noch gehen, weil das Essen eben authentisch ist und ausgezeichnet schmeckt. 2015 hätte ich dieser Konoba 5+ gegeben. Klein, unauffällig, aber was ein Essen! Dieses Jahr war dann wohl der letzte Besuch hier. Sehr enttäuschend. Mittlerweile gibts frittierten Fisch mit Pommes, Portionen die lachhaft sind und Service der unterirdisch ist. 2 Softdrinks, eine Istrianische Platte (3 Scheiben Supermarktschinken, 2 Scheiben Pancetta, 2 kleine Scheiben Käse, etwas Salami, 4 Scheiben Brot und 5 Oliven), Kalamari (bestehend aus 5 baby Kalamari, etwas sandiger Mangold und 2 kartoffelhälften) und der Istrianischer Teller (2 Stückchen totgebratenes Fleisch und 2 dünne Würstchen, die mal viel besser waren, angerichtet mit 4 Kartoffelhälften) kommen dann rund 50 Euro.
