I read some reviews and I'm amazed by the people who have no taste, never went out of Cyprus or are simply evil.
I've been here for the first time last weekend, had no expectations i didn't even knew where i was going.
First impression was a lovely cozy place in the middle of the mountain, the hostess (kika) welcomed us with joy and recognized us by name. Something that refers to HIGH STANDARDS SERVICE which you CANNOT get nowhere in this country.
Our table was ready for us with our name on it. Service was fast and super personalized. All of the staff was super friendly and INFORMED also another thing which never happen in Cyprus (waiters don't even know what they serve). We got asked if there was someone allergic or some special diet. (I'm vegetarian). They serve for vegetarians and vegans with no issue.
For people complaining about 22 euros for eating bread. Even if it was actually like this...for the "bread" i ate I WOULD PAY 50. Here is the difference of people with respect and class vs. Arrogants with lack of knowledge. The pumpkin cake I've tried it was the best one I ever tried competing with the ones of my grandma, i felt home. You are not paying for flour and water, you're paying for an elder lady cooking for you as you were part of her family. And it is like this. This is AUTHENTIC.
Nevertheless... Breakfast is not bread, there's fresh fruits and vegetables among the selection of cakes and brioches such as figs, olives tomatoes etc. Also fresh squeezed orange juice. Coffee is typical cipriot coffee...I'm surprise that cipriots are complaining about coffee not having flavour, well dear is your own coffe has nothing to do with the restaurant. You would prefer then that a local restaurant will give Costa Rica coffee ? ...i bet you would complain about that either.
After the starters, they serve something similar like shakshuka but with vegetables in my case and with meat for the other guest. Accompanied of fresh cut of cheese.
Everything was delicious, home made with fresh products of high quality. People who have a fine dining will understand.
I've traveled the world, I've eat in restaurant of Michelin star and I know what good service and food are.
This is more than excellent for what they want to represent, and what they want to express. Which is nature. Local. And love.
Because is a small place they work only through booking, if you go there without, it is up to you not up to them. Don't put a bad review if you don't get a table cause is your responsibility.
If I was the owner i even put the prices higher. Cause what I've seen here I've seen nowhere else in Cyprus regarding making you feel SOMEONE, direct and personalized attention. You pay authenticity, you pay good fresh quality products.
Overall, place transmit you an amazing good feeling and good energy. All the place is filled with art, history and good karma.
Take the time to book in advance and go there...you won't regret. ♥️
I was the first Uruguayan client of them and for sure after this experience won't be the last one.
For the owner: you're doing it great. Stay authentic and...
Read moreFirst things first: The taste of the locally produced food was amazing! So was the choice of jams! The tables were very nicely set. We were offered a vegetarian alternative to the fixed set of food. The chairs were very comfortable. The view was nice.
And yet we felt there was something that didn't quite match.
In hinsight we notice that it seemed tath tere was a business schem into which we as the customers were expected to fit in and not the other way round as one might expect.
At the entrance there was a check for your booking, but I did not feel greater / welcomed. You dont sit in a lovely garden, it is just a terrace with a dark roof above. If you sit in the second row you don't even have a view. The music was too loud, conversation was difficult, That made the last bit of garden feeling ho away. There were so many people squeezed in there, it felt as if it was mass tourism The staff were trying to be friendly, but clearly had their focus on getting everybody done as quickly as possible. Nobody ever asked how we were doing. After barely an hour we were asked if we were done (at last?), so that they could clear up. Well, this was meant to be a brunch, right? Everybody got the same food (basically bread with jam, cheese and fried egg), no choice possible - makes us feel like being a nobody in a million. Maybe our German interpretation of the word "brunch" is getting in the way here. The host only came round to ask us to vote for her restaurant in a competition - without even making an effort to ask us how we are, if we liked it. Obviously, it was enough that people come in the first place, based on good reviewes online. She even went so far as to ask us to vote for her son's restaurant in Nikosia, too, which, obviously, we don't know. The price was too high, and the orange juice was not even included.
Don't get me wrong, we absolutely respect all the effort necessary to produce the high quality food!
But we clearly felt that everything was done to please the owner and her ambitions- and not us. We assume it must have all started differently years ago, with charme, quiet, hearty attention. But sadly, somewhere along the passing of time or in the Sunday hazzle, the feeling of having a breakfast made with love and care must have gotten lost. Now it is just efficiency, a "serve as many people as possible as quickly as possible" with a limited choice of food - a very very tasty one at that, though. After having read the other reviews we were...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to visiting Kika’s Garden after hearing about its beautiful setting and homemade menu. The venue itself didn’t disappoint — it’s tucked away in a peaceful part of the countryside, with lovely views and a charming building that gives off a relaxing, rustic vibe.
Unfortunately, the actual dining experience was a letdown. The restaurant offers a fixed set menu and only takes limited bookings, so you have to plan well in advance. While we expected something special, what we received felt more like a very basic brunch: a breakfast skillet that was simple and could easily be made at home, along with a selection of breads that were just okay. There was tea and coffee included, but on a hot day, those weren’t particularly refreshing options.
We had booked for lunchtime and were surprised to find that the only meal available was breakfast — no flexibility. And for the price, which was quite steep, we didn’t feel like we got good value for money. What made things even more uncomfortable was that the hostess offered tarot card readings, which felt out of place and a bit intrusive for what we thought would be a relaxing meal.
All in all, while the setting was lovely, we found the experience underwhelming. It’s a spot that might suit someone looking for something very niche, but it...
