Been several times for food and enjoyed their food and homemade chips.
But on our last occasion the food was below average and paid nearly twice as much for privilege.
We took my mum as she was visiting us from the UK. We specifically chose Monte's over other places like jessics, royal moon - which are both known for their fantastic fish n chips.
We waited 45 minutes for our meal (3 meals in total and no other people dining).
When the meal arrived I instantly noticed that the chips were not homemade, but cheap frozen fries!
I brought it the attention of the bar man and expressed that I was disappointed that we had not received homemade chips like beforehand and the price a few weeks prior was 120TL , it's now 220TL! I asked why the massive increase or is it a misprint?!
Not only was the chips not homemade, the mushy peas were watery andy mum had a wooden skewers in the middle of her fish!
Long story made shorter - the owner eventually came to us as requested, I wanted to express my disappointment and give him feedback on the food we had received and come to some amicable agreement rather than give him bad feedback without giving him the opportunity to rectify it!
He instantly snatched the menu from me and shouted at me 'what do you want'! As I started to talk he constantly talked over me and continued to say 'what do you want' very aggressively!
He then threatened to phone the police when I suggested I didn't want to pay full price. He then searched for his phone and pretended to make a call. At this point he disappeared. So I waited patiently for another half hour for the police to arrive. At this point I went to the bar man what was happening because I was fed up of waiting, but understandably he didn't want to get involved as I can only presume the owner is very hostile towards him too.
İn the end we paid and as we were about to leave he appeared out of the kitchen, so I just said to him enjoy your review'! At this point he started shouting telling us to get out and he doesn't care then ushered us out if the door. My mum tried calming the situation - he then told her to shut up. My husband then intervened and made him apologise - to which the owner denied saying he told my mum shut up as he ushered us down the steps.
He had every opportunity to resolve a mild situation but he escalated it into a full blown episode! Hence to say we won't ever return not that we would be welcome anyway.
The owner has lost his chef which I believe is down to his behaviour, this is why he is doing the cooking alone but not to the same quality as our...
