We visited Agios Georgios Alamanou Restaurant yesterday and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We ordered calamari, octopus, and a “Captain’s Platter” which included french fries, shrimps, cooked octopus, mussels, and a fish. We also had a salad, tahini, and taramosalata. The food arrived incredibly fast, faster than McDonald’s, which already raised concerns about freshness. Sadly, those concerns were confirmed. The quality was well below average for a fish restaurant. The octopus and calamari were each priced at €25, and the platter was €56 — none of which reflected the value or taste of the food served. Service was also poor. Our waitress was inattentive and distracted, looking around while we were trying to speak with her. To top it all off, when we were leaving, we bought some ice cream, and I must confess, it was the first time in my life I couldn’t even finish it. I threw it away after just a couple of bites. That says a lot. What’s even worse is that this wasn’t just a one-off bad experience. This seems to be part of a broader trend where overpriced, low-quality food is being passed off as “dining out.” It’s disheartening to see places like this still attracting customers, and it’s about time we start speaking up if we want things to change. Cyprus deserves better when it comes to dining. We certainly won’t...
Read moreWe were recommended this restaurant by the hotel staff as our usual was booked for a wedding. Our hotel booked the our table and the drive there was easy using google maps (only 15 mins from our hotel).
The restaurant was located at Agios Georgios right on the beach which provided a lovely atmosphere. The view was lovely, especially when attending during sunset.
There is a variety of food to choose from, from fresh fish,, meat platters, meze to sushi and Asian. Our first visit we ordered a variety of dips and fresh fish including octopus and calamari. I can honestly say, it was one of the best cooked octopus on the island. My 4 year old daughter demolished a plate by herself and it was a good size for an adult.
The service was very good too, although our table was given away by mistake, they rectified it straight away. Our orders were taken promptly and the dips brought our quickly too. The kids also ordered ice-cream for desert from the variety of flavours to choose from.
We enjoyed it so much, we recommended it to some friends, who we attended with and enjoyed it too.
The food is very reasonably priced for a family of 5 (on group of 10 for the second visit). I will definitely be returning when we come again next time...
Read moreLocation: The restaurant was a bit far from the city centre, however it's easy to find and there are nice areas to walk before or after the meal. Within 5-10mins walking distance to the west, there are nice hotspots for sunset watching and it's a popular destination for photo sessions.
Parking: They have a good amount of parking around the restaurant.
Food: We went for a Sunday lunch, the place was packed! It's definitely a good sign for a restaurant. I'm glad we made a reservation, otherwise I don't think we would get a table that easily. They have various seafood platters on the menu and it definitely helps to make decisions. The food comes very fast and the service was great too. The food themselves were good, nothing out of this world, also at the same time it's not bad.
Price point: For a decent lunch and some beers, we spent 35€/person. I think it's fair and I'll definitely be coming back.
Other notes: Kids friendly with a bouncy castle and some other games. Come prepared with some coins for the...
