Periklis Tavern — Restaurant in Nata

We ate dinner here on a Wednesday evening about 6:30. The place was almost empty, but I suspect it may fill up a little later in the evening.

The location is lovely, with a great view of the valley.

There's quite an expansive menu but they don't have everything on it everyday, so be prepared to be flexible. You can apparently also let them know a day in advance if you particularly want something and they'll make sure they have it.

I had the Moussaka, which was fantastic, the Pork chop that my son had was obviously good based on the speed with which he ate it. My wife had a chicken dish which came in a gravy of mushrooms and onions which was also delicious.

The couple who run the restaurant are very friendly and speak a little bit of English. We received he sort of Cypriot hospitality that we've experienced in a couple of places this vacation, they bought us a nice courgette and egg side dish.

Unfortunately, the kids weren't patient enough to let us stick around for coffee, which our hosts seemed disappointed about, but that didn't stop them giving us a free bottle of wine.

To miejsce, do którego po prostu chce się wracać. Mieliśmy tawernę tuż obok domu, i skończyło się tak, że byliśmy tam cztery razy na obiedzie i raz na niedzielnym bufecie — za każdym razem wychodziliśmy pełni zachwytu (i najedzeni po brzegi!).

Jedzenie było mistrzowskie: wszystko świeże, lokalne, przygotowywane ręcznie. Mogliśmy próbować własnej produkcji lountza, grillowanego halloumi, klasycznego village salad, czy słynnego kleftiko — a to ledwie początek meze: był i souvla, i moussaka, faszerowane liście winogron, pork afelia, a nawet stifado – czyli typowe, domowe smaki Cypru. To nie była żadna sztuka – po prostu prawdziwa kuchnia i w dobrych porcjach.

Obsługa? Rewelacja. Od samego wejścia czuliśmy się zaopiekowani. Świetne podejście do dzieci, cierpliwość, zero pośpiechu. I ten luz! Po angielsku można było gadać totalnie normalnie, jak z sąsiadem – zupełnie bez spięcia. I drobna podpowiedź językowa – warto powiedzieć "aubergine", a nie "eggplant" – jest szansa że dostaniesz to co chcesz 😉

Kiedy przylecieliśmy w sobotę i zjedliśmy obiad, od razu wiedzieliśmy, że niedzielny bufet to będzie strzał w dziesiątkę. To była okazja, żeby spróbować wszystkiego – od przystawek po dania główne. I serio – po takim bufecie ciężko wybrać jeden ulubiony smak (a była m.in. moussaka, meze mix, halloumi i warzywne opcje).

Kilka razy zamawialiśmy wcześniej ryby (dzień wcześniej)– zawsze idealnie przygotowane, świeże, soczyste. Dodatkowo zajadaliśmy chicken kebab, całą gamę meze — zarówno mięsne, jak i wege, jagnięcinę, pork chop, owoce morza… wszystko czyste, schludne, pachnie domem. Nawet sąsiedzi wspominali: „tu można jeść z podłogi” — i to wszystko w sensie – JAKOŚĆ first class.

Podsumowując: jedzenie, ludzie, atmosfera — wszystko było tak cudowne, że już w drodze powrotnej do domu planowaliśmy, jak i kiedy...

In all seriousness, after a trek into the mountains we were hungry and stinging for a beer. This was just off the main road back down to Paphos, but 100% worth the slight detour. Great views from the restaurant with windows that open up to the rolling countryside. The food was delicious, the beer and the glasses were super cold, and the owners were super nice. They gave us some extra Cypriot delicacies to try which had us rolling out of the place after stuffing our faces haha. If you’re...
