I have never been so shocked and embarrassed in a restaurant in my life.
I called ahead to check if we could order individual dishes instead of the meze — they said yes, no problem. We arrived (x2 adults, x2 children) were seated, and started placing an order to begin the night.
Before we’d even finished ordering — with the bill for just those first drinks and dishes already at €50 — the manager (owner I believe) who took the order told us we “hadn’t ordered enough” and that we should be spending at least €20 per head to “cover the cost of the live music.” This “minimum spend” was never mentioned anywhere — not on the menu, not online, and not when I phoned.
I explained my child wasn’t very hungry and that I wanted to see portion sizes before ordering more. We were planning to settle in for the evening and order as we went. He responded with a bizarre example about a table of 25 “putting them out of business” if they ordered like us. When I told him his approach was offensive, he actually said I had offended him! I mentioned that I was shocked that he was dictating how we should be eating! It’s a restaurant, I can order as I please!!
At that point, I asked for the drinks bill and left. He honestly couldn’t have been happier and thrilled we were going and couldn’t have ushered us out any quicker. We never even got to eat in fact we barely started our drinks!! Disgraceful attitude — more concerned with squeezing money out of people than making guests feel welcome. They lost far more than €20 per head that night — they lost any chance of our custom ever again! Truly felt sick to my stomach! And was genuinely shocked and perplexed at what I was hearing from this smug individual!
We left with full stomachs of pride instead of food — lesson learned for my kids: never let anyone speak to...
Read moreWe came in and since it was our first time we asked if we can sit inside or outside. The waiter told us in an unfriendly way that everywhere is considered inside. So they sat us down in our table and asked us right away how many mezzes we want. We didn't know the concept so we asked to see the menu. We were 4 but since we don't want to over eat we told them we want to start with two mezzes and see how we do. They insisted that we are 4 we should order 4 mezzes. Again since we didn't know we listened to them and that was a big mistake. The amount of food they brought can easily feed 8 people. We felt really bad with all the food coming out and we couldn't eat more. The staff should be helping people order the right amount of food not trick them for buying more food. The food was good even though they ease down a bit on cheese dishes and their sallad didn't have enough olives and was very cold. They brought all the cheese and bread in the beginning and we didn't have any space for meat platters that came all in the end. The waiter wearing glasses has a lot of attitude and isn't friendly. All and all this could have been an amazing experience with helpful staff but instead it turned into an overwhelming...
Read moreThe food was really good. We ordered mezze for my husband and I, and french fries for the kids. But unfortunately, this is the only positive Thing that I have to say about the place. The waiters were some of the worst waiters I have ever met and it ruined the whole experience. Right from the moment we stepped in the door we felt as if we were not welcome. It was as if they did not bother to be at work at all. There was no service at all. For example, we asked to have the children's food first, as they were getting very hungry. But we got it approx. 20 min. after our food. We actually felt so uncomfortably comfortable that we agreed to leave, but then our food came and we therefore ended up staying in hopes that it would get a little better. We are really saddened by the experience. We actually had really high expectations for the place before we arrived. It was our daughter's birthday and therefore we had spent a long time finding the perfect place for this evening. After reading so many positive reviews of the place, we therefore decided that Voreas should be the place. But it endet up being a big...
