Myrra Tavern — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

Mixed experience. Be careful!

My wife and me just visited this Restaurant. We really liked the local athomosphere with a lot of cats and dogs inside. The taste of the food was good. With our salad we ordered additional 2 simple souvlaki (just the meat) and they charged us 21€(!!) just for the souvlaki. We have been told afterwards(!) that we have to pay additional two fully complete main dishes because it‘s only possible to order souvlaki with a main dish. The owner rejected our complain and insisted to pay the whole amount.

If you visit this place i would recommend to comminicate in binding way.

Update: i would like to take a statement concerning the answer of the owner. We have definitly not ordered a main dish, we‘ve asked expecially just for 2x souvlakis. And yes they additionaly served us two portions of vegetables which we’ve never ordered and didn‘t like. For me in a retroperspective, it seems like a proactive strategy to charge the full price of a main dish. Anyway we wish all the best to the owner and would recommend to be fair to your customers...

Nothing outstanding regarding this taverna other than the very friendly welcome. The food was good but unfortunately meat and chips with no garnish of any type is what many establishments serve in Cyprus and this taverna is no different. We had a small dish of grilled mushrooms as a starter to share as they had no pastourmas even though it was on the menu. How can you run out of a item on the menu at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. Though my pork grilled chop on the bone was cooked perfectly, the chips with no garnish let it down. My wife’s sheftalia with pork souvlaki looked pan fried as the pork was in small pieces with no skewer marks and little if any evidence of being marinated or sprinkled with herbs. It was served with chips, again no salad garnish. The saving grace, the sheftalia and pork was accompanied with chopped onion and parsley, my pork wasn’t. I ordered a small beer and my wife ordered a glass of house white wine. It was a small glass and at €5, very expensive when a bottle...
