Got a tip from a friend who lives here in Cyprus.
Arrived in the afternoon and initially we were told that the well-known "meat meze" is just served in the evening. But simple asking was enough and the dish was served to us immediately. The waitress was generally very friendly and accommodating.
To eat: The "meat meze" does not have to be explained in detail but for those who have no idea: it starts with starters like fresh pita bread and various sauces and a salad that would not be so good and big in other restaurants, even if ordered seperately (crisp fresh with feta cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes). It went on with a variety of meat delicacies, which all came fresh and hot from the grill and tasted excellent. In addition, delicious snacks were served in between, such as feta in puff pastry with honey. As a coronation, a delicious dessert (& sweet grapes) was served, which is already included in the meze. Also the wine offer is more than good (tip: white wine from Fikardos winery - best wine in the area)
Me and my girlfriend, are both people with a good appetite and we were more than fed up. Concerning the food itself one does not need more words than just "perfect" (:
Gladly again for us and a must for people with good food and wine taste (:
(Be aware that there is another 'Costas Tavern' nearby so type in "Costas Tavern Koloni" to find the right webpage...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend got the meze platter for 2 people. The food was amazing and we got to try a bit of everything. And when I say a bit of everything, I mean a lot of everything, because we were so full by the time we finished. Even though they weren’t serving dessert from the menu anymore (it was a bit late), the staff went out of their way and “improvised” a dessert which consisted of ice cream and some fresh fruit. I’m not a vanilla kind of guy, but this vanilla ice cream was hands down one of the best one I’ve ever had. The owner/chef was really nice and made sure to greet us and check that everything was ok. On top of that there was also live music which was really nice and made the whole experience so much better.
If you want a nice, local experience, this is the...
