I'd like to first start off with the food. I had the goulash they had with beef, but the beef was overcooked, which meant it was not only dry but also hard to cut as well if you did not want to cut with the grain, and the fat was not syncing very well with the meat, yet there was a lot of fat which made up slightly for the taste. 🥩 The sauce was not seasoned well, I could only taste the goulash spices and what tasted like basil. The sauce had a good amount of pepper but not enough salt. There was salt that I could grab from the table though, but it would have been slightly more convenient if the sauce was already salted a bit more. The sauce also had this vibe of having too many tomatoes, something like when you make curry but you add too much tomato sauce. It also had this watery feel that did not make me feel as full as I would have thought, and the watery-ness of the sauce made it harder to pick it up by knedlíček. 💧 The knedlícky were overall pretty solid, just that the consistency and texture was a bit off, almost tasted like a bad oatmeal at times because of the watery sauce. Did not taste like the goulash I know, big disappointment it could have not beed made better. No harsh feelings, just saying!
But the service and atmosphere were much better. The waitress was kind and even gave me some sweets as a reward, she told us what was best to try out, though I was the only one in my party who didn't listen and went for the goulash. They were charming and nice.
And the atmosphere was top notch. The walls were clean, nobody was smoking outside into the windows, there were zero insects bothering me aside from a few flies, and there was the clever decor with the funny mugs and cups hanging off the bar.
The only thing wrong with the place was the bathroom and the TV.
The bathroom was not clean at all, yet at least there was plentifull toilet paper, but the floor and walls were old and dirty. And the TV was bursting ads through the space, there could have been some music videos, but instead there were countless ads, though I respect the idea of entertaining the people! 💡
And last thing, the prices were scary cheap. Me and my party are used to Prague's high prices and Karlovy Vary's, but this restaurant nailed it with basically making it feel like it's funded by charity so that it could have low prices!
Overall, four stars is what this place deserves from me, and shout out to the designers of the...
