My wife and I took her sister, brother, and a friend to dinner for my sister-in-law's birthday at the end of August. The menu looked promising, a variety of foods and drinks. We were first told we could not take pictures even of our own party because there were "important people " there who did not want to be in our social media. Ok, we were discrete and there was no way, after waiting one and a half hours for our orders to be brought to the table, that we would not take pictures. Because the food was disappointing to say the least. We were waiting so long we asked for bread or something, and while the butter was good, the dinner rolls we were brought were dry and flavorless. Flavorless turned out to be the same for several orders of frites we received, even though I actually requested amaranth with my brochettes de boeuf with four sauces that were actually just one heavy cream sauce with what looked and tasted like canned mushrooms. A sauce that had developed a skin across the top while it cooled in the kitchen. My beef was tepid at best, too bad because the meat was fairly tender and had a good flavor. Just wirh no spices. My sister-in-law's roast half chicken was the best dish, cooked with herbs and served hot, closely followed by the Kivu pizza. Except it's more flatbread (flavorless base dough that was crispy and pretty much just a vehicle for the toppings) than pizza, with good sausage and nothing else we could taste, at least served hot. The last dish was a Bukavu traditional fried ("braise") tilapia that was the last item we received, probably 30 minutes after the pizza was served first and how can a fried whole fish be served lukewarm?
