Great service, fun decor. Multi-lingual waitstaff. Menus available in Danish and English. Excellent authentic American cheeseburger and fries, all the way to the super-sized portions. (Except the cheese... It was better quality than I'm used to in America, same basic taste, but no plastic like texture of American cheese). Large menu selection with lots of burger add-ons. They even put ice in my coke without me having to ask, but not too much so it didn't water down. There's a kid's menu. American style breakfast selections, including hash browns! You can choose from a counter service bar top, a booth, a table, outside in season, or even choose to sit inside an actual American style International make school bus with the bus seats, for your dining experience. Authentic milkshakes, the good kind, the American "thickshake" style with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. Covid cards checked at door, sanitizer available, face shields worn by employees. Lots of room inside to spread out. It was exactly like a themed American diner from the 50-60's era. Lots of "flair" to look at. Real American license tags plates dating way back. It appears they have all the states, even the elusive Alaska and Hawaii. An English BP fuel pump, Route 66 signs from the highway itself, or very clever replicas because I couldn't tell the difference. Bathroom was novel and interesting with a tire for a sink and a gas pump as a faucet. Equipped for all ability levels, accessible. Very reasonable pricing for the amount of food received. American music from the 50's era, but not too loud so a reasonable volume can be used for conversation. Super close to a beach for a stroll too. Ample parking. Great location. All around a good, fun, enjoyable, reasonably priced experience. A slice of Americana by the pier in Køge. 10 out of 10 would recommend for a fun family outing. Also great for a first date because of the comfortable atmosphere and conversation starter "flair" on the walls, shelves, even the lighting is unusual and fun. Stacy's attention to details will leave the awkward "what do we talk about?" blown to the side, as there are loads of things to verbally explore. As well as the proximity to the beach begs a walk with some to go milkshakes if things go well. Great diner. Go. See for yourself. I'm sure...
Read moreIt was quite the experience to arrive in the evening around Christmas time. So many decorations outside, it was just a blast. The food was very good as well. I recently visited again during Halloween decorations. Also very pretty! But the service was awful. We were seated rather quickly. And then we waited... and waited.. Then I stood up to find a waitress to ask if we could place an order. She came right away and took our order. When we finished eating, we tried to get ahold of a waitress again. We waited.. and waited.. Until I stood up and walked up to a waitress and asked if we could get the bill. She said sure, I'll bring it to you in a moment. And then we waited... and waited.. I got ahold of another waiter, and told him we had already asked for the bill a while ago, but it didn't arrive. He said he'd sort it right away. And then we waited... and waited... We then left our table, and stopped by the counter, where we waited a bit. I then explained the situation, that we had tried to get our bill from two different waiters to no avail. She said, "wait by the cashier, and a colleague will be there in a moment to help you". And then we waited.. After a while, the same person came over to help us (she realized no colleague was coming). We explained where we were seated, and she had an attitude like she almost didn't believe us. She couldn't find our bill. She said "another waiter must have printed it and forgotten it". Yeah well -- no shit sherlock! Finally she found it so we could pay the full amount. Not a single "sorry for the wait" or the like. Just "would you like...
Read moreLocation: great surroundings and lovely views nearby at the Køge Marina.
Parking: plenty of parking available around the diner and across the street. That being said I wish cars didn’t park by the diner windows as empty space there would have made for some great photo opportunities.
Decor/cleanliness: the place is very well maintained, looks clean and welcoming! Plenty of themed decor around giving the diner a very nice ambiance.
Staff: staff is very friendly and tried their best to make our experience memorable. However, they did not let us sit in the bus booth (which was a big part of us coming to this diner in the first place) as it was only available for more than 2 people. Yet we saw parties of 2 sitting there asking the question why they wouldn’t let us as there was empty booths available.
Food: ok now for the verdict. Food was incredible, easily some of the best burgers 🍔 I have had. I went for the Hot Rod burger which costs 109dkk. It’s a spicy burger with a 200g beef patty, chunky salsa which tasted lovely, jalapeno-cheddar sauce, red onions and picked. Of course you can’t forget the 2 onion rings on the top of the burger. The only thing I would say is to not get cheese fries as a side if you have gone for the Hot Rod burger as that might be too much cheese. The burger oozes cheese when you cutting into it which on many levels is great 🙌 but cheese sides to go with that is too much.
Summary: a great experience overall and one I would...
