This review is about the excursion, not the restaurant. We chose the El Limon river adventure excursion. It starts with a guagua ride to the trailhead and then a nice ~1 hour hike to El Limon waterfall (this is the part that a lot of people do on horses). El Limon waterfall is the beginning of the excursion down the El Limon river. They provide helmets, kneepads and elbow pads. There are many slippery river crossings, a lot of rocks to jump off, and several natural waterslides. It is a really pretty river and nice to be off the beaten path (we saw no tourists and only 2 small groups of locals enjoying the river). There is no way to keep anything dry on this hike. I think we bit off more than we could chew, it took us 5 hours instead of the expected 3. At one point we asked for a rest break and our guide said there was a good spot when we reached the halfway point. We were shocked that we were not yet half way. It's not their fault that I wasn't fit enough for this quite fun hike, I just want others to have good information to decide which trip to choose. So you can gauge, I'm 60, moderately overweight and am in good-ish shape for my age yoga, pickleball, walking, classes at the gym, but I bonked. I recommend taking water and snacks on the hike.
Other general comments. Great communication via WhatsApp! Nice that they have a parking lot. I would choose Santi...
Read moreWe were here for the tour of the waterfall. I think this is a great company and Santi if that’s his name was really communicative and easy to talk to. We went with a group of 10 including some family from overseas and we walked the entire hike. It is a strenuous hike with multiple river crossings so I would not recommend it for anybody who is out of shape or who has mobility issues. They do have the option to go in horses, but that didn’t seem that safe either especially if it was slick but overall we had a great experience with our tour guide Andres and we loved it. The tour included a lunch, which had rice and beans and chicken, and the food was really good and everybody appreciated it after...
Read moreMy family and I were introduced to Santi excursiones by the owner of the B&B we were staying at and what a great recommendation! We did the El Limon horseback excursion and it was amazing! This excursion was very reasonably priced and worth every penny. There were 6 people in our group and they sent 3 awesome guides with us. They didn't speak much English but they were extremely helpful especially with my mom who is older and was struggling on the trail to the waterfall. The one guide held her hand and helped her all the way down to the falls and back up again. Only downfall was they didn't except credit cards but from my experience most businesses in the Samana peninsula don't. Highly...
