Buen Gusto Restaurant — Restaurant in San Cristóbal

Was excited to try this place, drove 40 min to get here and showed up in a group of 7. The Mariscos platter for 2 was almost completely inedible - the pic is what we still had left over after grinding our way through dry, unappetizing, and rubbery lobster, conch, and shrimp. Huge disappointment, especially after waiting for nearly an hour to get fed... And service was subpar, the server didn't know her own menu then forgot our appetizer order of Italian sausage, which turned out to be reasonably tasty although drenched in commercial sauce. The plantains are plain and the French fries flavorless.

According to our friends, the ribs were tough but flavorful, the rice soup was delicious, and the white fish with tomato was pretty good but not great. Considering you can get fresh seafood by the beach for a fraction of these prices, why anyone would eat here...

This is my second time coming to this restaurant, and this time, my wife and I had a terrible experience. There were groups of people coming in after us, and all of them were able to get theirs drinks and food before we got some chicken nuggets! The two of us had to wait over 50 minutes just for our food, and while groups of 6 or 8 were able to eat before us. Food had to be returned because it was so salty and had no flavor. We got the food faster after complaining that it was the wrong order...

The service was excellent. I was served expediently and the server was friendly and attentive. The prices were also reasonable. I had fried fish and tostones. Everything was cooked perfectly and the fish was cleaned very well. However, the fish was not seasoned very much and was a bit bland. The mojito was perfect. I would visit this...
