Our tour group stopped here to give us the opportunity to sample some local foods. We watched as grubs were skewered then grilled. The little beans were removed then we were able to taste them. The grubs were meaty tasting; not bad at all really. We also tried ants. I think they were fried. They were crispy but I wasn’t fond of the legs and such that seemed to stick around in my mouth. These items were served with yucca and sliced red onion. I enjoyed the chance to experience these foods here.
There are many good vendors lined up along one side of the open air building (roof covers the cooking and eating areas). The menus are posted at each vendor but they appear to serve many of the same items at each food stall. Most vendors had charcoal fire grills in front of their stalls where they cooked certain items (fish or chicken) wrapped in large green leaves...
