Mixed Experience at Izmir Saray: Excellent Food, but Pricey and Some Room for Improvement

Having visited Izmir Saray for breakfast twice and lunch once, I've had a chance to sample their offerings across different times of the day. Overall, while there were certainly highlights to my experience, there were also a few drawbacks that need addressing.

Let's start with the positives. The food quality at Izmir Saray is undoubtedly top-notch. Whether it was the breakfast spread or the items on the lunch menu, every dish I tried was prepared to perfection, with fresh ingredients and delicious flavors. The view from the restaurant is also stunning, adding to the overall ambiance and making it a pleasant place to dine.

I must commend the hospitality of the staff, particularly a waiter named El Sayed, who consistently provided friendly and attentive service. Their warmth and professionalism added to the enjoyment of my meals.

However, there are a couple of areas where Izmir Saray falls short. Firstly, the prices are quite steep, especially considering the lack of offers or promotion days. While I understand the value of quality ingredients and service, the overall cost can be prohibitive for many diners.

Additionally, the use of pottery dishes, while aesthetically pleasing, is impractical as they easily scratch and can detract from the presentation of the food over time. Furthermore, the music volume tends to be too high, and the lack of diversity in the playlist makes for a somewhat repetitive dining experience.

In conclusion, Izmir Saray offers a memorable culinary experience with its impeccable food quality, inviting atmosphere, and friendly staff. However, the high prices, absence of promotions, use of pottery dishes, and music issues are areas that could be improved upon to enhance the overall...

I recently dined at izmir saray to celebrate my mother's birthday, and I must express my deep disappointment with the restaurant's staff and their abysmal service. To begin with, I arrived promptly at 8 PM for my reservation, only to be made to wait for an excruciating 30 minutes before being seated. It was disheartening to witness the lack of organization and disregard for punctuality displayed by the restaurant staff.

The incompetence of the staff continued to manifest throughout the evening. After finishing my meal, I decided to order some food to take away. To my utter dismay, the staff managed to not only provide me with the wrong order but also gave my food to another table. This level of negligence is simply inexcusable and reflects a complete lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

As if these mishaps were not enough, the staff's behavior regarding my mother's birthday cake was utterly appalling. When the cake arrived, it was unceremoniously placed on the table without any plates or utensils. It was as if they couldn't care less about the occasion we were celebrating. The lack of basic courtesy and consideration demonstrated by the staff was deeply...

A local circus without leadership

Did one of the biggest mistakes in history, and went to have breakfast in this what they call it “restaurant”….and I wish I didn’t

Despite the restaurant wasn’t busy, took the manager approx. 7 minutes to seat us

Of course menu is based on scanning the “barcode”, that didn’t work 😊

Explained the manager that this scan thing doesn’t work, he suggested a tablet

Ladies and gents

Even the tablet didn’t work 😊

Nevertheless, and since our expectations were too high (to have readable menu) we decided to shut our mouth up, and sit in peace, dreaming to eat

20 minutes passed for someone to even ask you if you need water…no one bothered

So we decided to leave the place, respect ourselves and manage our expectations, especially after listening to the silly, unprofessional and indisciplined excuses of the brilliant manager

The question that raises itself here:

Is this really a restaurant considering that we are in 2024?

The simple answer, this is a local circus without any kind of leadership

And then we cry that tourism is deteriorating….simply this is because of such low class / low quality...

The food was beyond delicious today, the chef really outdid himself. We started with the Izmir Saray Festive Salatasi, Pancar Mutabbel (a beetroot yoghurt dip with olive oil), Sigara böreği (we got the cheese only version), and Kaşar cheese pide. The salad is a crowd favorite for a reason; the berries and dressing really make it pop. The ratio of pastry to cheese in the cheese roll is divine and the pastry wasn’t oily at all. We split the Tavuk Şiş Kebap as our main dish and the chicken was incredibly juicy and probably the best sautéed vegetables I’ve ever had. Honestly, everything we ordered was incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants vibrant food that is flavorful and cooked with love. A very special thank you to our friendly and welcoming waiter, Abdelrahman for being very hospitable! The service was top notch.

Reservation is a must on weekends. I went with my family of 12 persons for lunch on Friday. My sister warned me that it takes ages to prepare the food after ordering and it was true. Food is delicious, huge portions, juicy chicken and fresh salads. But service is TERRIBLE. You have to be very patient to stand the waiter’s carelessness and slow response. One of the waiters dropped a tray full of plates just behind my dad and his shirt got stained, I screamed of shock from the sound of broken plates all over. All they did is got 2 lemon juice for my dad.😃 we actually all needed a Xanax pill after this. I like Turkish cuisine , but I don’t think that this place will last long with this bad service. The view from the restaurant is amazing at night. I wish to go again if they improved their service.

As a Turkish I can honestly say that Izmir Saray is a wonderful destination in Egypt for those seeking authentic Turkish cuisine! The food is truly delicious, capturing the essence of Turkish flavors. The presentation is careful, portions are satisfying, and the prices are quite reasonable. The warm ambiance and friendly staff elevate the experience. Notably, our waiter, Shady Mohamed, impressed us with his warm demeanor and efficient service. I highly recommend Izmir Saray to anyone wanting to enjoy Turkish cuisine in Egypt! P.S. The tea and yogurt products have a consistency that feels somewhat unfamiliar compared to what we're used to in Turkey.
