The new fish market of Port Saed is a real piece of art for the modern fish market, relatively clean and the shops are next to each others and you can have a beautiful walk around several shops exploring all the delicious fresh fish and seafood. But i really don't understand why we always enjoy to destroy something that is perfectly good with our bad behaviors of annoying people by chasing them to either buy from you or to cook the fish that you have not purchased yet and the people working in shops are very very impolite with their way of chasing you, plus they don't follow the prices announced daily or 2 times a day from the management of the fish market complex and the most intimidating thing is they insist that their fish and prawn are fish and only caught this morning while you can clearly see with minimal effort really that all the prawn with no exception are defrosted and defrosted a while ago. Why people can't just focus on the presentation of their products and let customers walk around peacefully and relaxed and if they want to buy then they will and everyone will benefit at the end of the day. Personally, I will never go and buy fish from this market again as my only 2 visits were really unpleasant..it is much more convenient and cost effective to buy seafood from the vegi market in Port Saed or from Port Fuad where the people selling seafood are much more decent , cleaner and fresher and cheaper than Port Saed...

This is a unique experience in Port Said city. This is one of the cleanest fish shop in the country. Decided into sections. Prices are clearly hanged at the entrance of the market. Recommend to have a tour first and get knowledge of the availability, kinds, sizes and prices. Please note that for the same kind there are different origins, such as Mediterranean, Red Sea, Sue Canal, and fish farms. That's why need to compare and ask.

Read moreArriving at Port Said, my first stop is the fish market for brunch. The earlier you arrive the better. The local fishermen sell their daily catch from morning until they sell out in the afternoon There’s shrimp, squid floating in metal buckets, boulty (tilapia) and barbouni (red mullet). The selection is kept fresh with occasional splashes of ice water.
Crowds of cats surround the stands of the more generous fishmongers, while the occasional pelican also waits to be fed. There’s a wider and fresher selection than at any markets in Cairo.
Take the fish to a baker to get it grilled or fried on-the-spot with a seasoning of lime and vinegar. Locals often eat more fish than meat, as it’s widely available and often cheaper. Caught in the canal and the Mediterranean, locals say it’s so fresh it still tastes like the salty waters.
