The one big disappointment of the trip… to be fair, the food at the soma bay kempinski is usually very good . And so is the service. The service is friendly and efficient at the bamboo shoot as well. The food quality was shockingly bad for this property. Starters: The dumplings still hard or even frozen on one side. The Tom yam soup tasted more Arabic than Asian and included 4 tiny shrimps and some pieces of mushrooms otherwise just broth… Mains: the curry was spicy but bland and without any flavor. The duck was the only really eatable dish at this restaurant. We gladly left already...

Curry was good. Spicy tuna roll is one of the best I’ve had in recent years. Our waiter/bartender Dawood is very kind and attentive, immediately respond to our request and try to make sure everything goes smoothly. He also makes great cocktail, my wife kept saying the Thai Cooler he makes is so good that she’d like to have it every single day here.

We spent two evenings at this place while on holiday at the Kempinski Hotel. We chose this place because we didn’t want to eat at the main restaurant, 'The Buffet.' We had really good food, and every day the chef came to our table to check if everything was okay. Our waiter, Barsoum, was a really nice and professional guy.
