It is rare to find somewhere that does fantastic food with love for the cuisine on offer. Bab el-Bahr Grand Maghreb is one of these precious pearls in a sea of burger and pizza places that have flooded Dahab.

I found it whilst looking for somewhere totally different to eat and having recently been to Agadir, I was attracted to this restaurant by the rave reviews and the promise of a good tagine.

And boy did it deliver. From the lovely welcome at the Hotel Monica reception who quickly guided me up the ten or so shallow steps it took to get to the restaurant to the warm greeting by the two lovely women who run this place (I feel mortified I never introduced myself or asked their names!)

I told the lady who was in charge of service that I was happy for her to choose for me between beef or chicken tagine. I opted for the potatoes and olives version.

It did take a while (about 20 minutes or so) for the food to arrive but that is because it is all made fresh to order for the guest. So please don’t go there and complain about delays but the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen will definitely whet your appetite while you wait.

The beef tagine was served accompanied by the fluffiest melt in the mouth couscous that I have ever had, the beef was tender and flavoursome and the fresh tomato salad was a perfect accompaniment. Each mouthful was better than the previous. I felt almost bereft when the meal was over. The complimentary green tea with mint refreshed the palate and was a perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Finding the restaurant was super easy, it is just a few minutes away from the central area in Mashraba in a quiet but brightly lit street, away from the hussle and bustle just a few metres away. Don’t hesitate to go and savour the...

Ohhhh I just rolled home from dinner at this lovely restaurant. I usually don't like eating in Restaurants because I feel the quality of the food will be better when I do it at home with time and love ....but in this place u don't feel like you are in a restaurant. I felt like being at a friend's living room and they cook delicious food just for me. Luckily we were the only people and it was soo nice. The 2 lady's have such a beautiful energy... smiling all over the face and taking their time to cook a really yummy exciting food for you... They put water for the animals in front of their place which I really appreciate. Just show's they are really good hearted people ohhh and I forgot to mention they give a a basket with cards in the beginning. Cards with funny, interesting questions that u could use to get a nice conversation going...I loooooved this idea so much. Helps to experience a different evening than usual and people don't get stuck on their smartphones....so I highly recommend spending an evening in...

The Best Restaurant in Dahab – A Must-Try!

This is hands down the best restaurant I’ve ever experienced in Dahab! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by the incredibly warm and friendly owners, Nada and Reham, whose big smiles and kind demeanor instantly make you feel at home.

The restaurant exudes cozy vibes with its charming decor and soothing music, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed meal.

Now, let’s talk about the food – absolutely delicious and authentic! The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable, making it a fantastic value for money.

As a thoughtful touch, they serve a pot of green tea after lunch, which feels like the cherry on top of an already amazing experience.

Thank you, Nada and Reham, for such a memorable meal – you truly made my day! Don’t miss out on this gem when...

Stumbled by this place by complete surprise, and we glad we stopped to ask because it turned out to be a magical experience! This is by far the best moroccan food I have had in the whole of Egypt and Europe combined. Authentic recipes made with love, it feels like you are in their homes and as their guests they make you feel welcomed and provide a cozy atmosphere, they take the time to prepare meals that have flavorful balanced tastes, as a cliche as it may sound every bite was magical. Excellent for couples for the vibes, great for families for the great values for the price, and awesome for friends who want to enjoy a laid back and a special night in Dahab. This was the BEST meal I have had in a long time, highly highly recommend, and will always return to. 💕
