KIUS — Restaurant in Tallinn

I have heard great things about KIUS but I guess yesterday wasn't good day for the cook. We ordered beef burger and beef steak. Tastes are there, everything fits together BUT steak was SO overcooked and even burger patty was overcooked and dry. Beef steak should be medium-rare but we got well-done (hard to chew). You could also see that the steak had been sitting for awhile after cooking (waiting for the burger to be ready?). Service was okay. After asked how the food tasted, they promised to inform the cook. After receiving the check there was no feedback or apology about the overcooked food (we have had couple of bad experiences before and everywhere else there has been some feedback from the cook or some kind of apology). Very interesting cocktail selection, happy to see something new and exciting. The cocktail selection did not disappoint! The shrimps, very good, the sweet potato fries with the truffle mayo, very very good. Nothing bad to say. For the main I had a burger, the patty was dry sadly, but the other components of the burger helped with it. The fries with the burger were also very very good, and the sauce next to them, very good!! For the dessert, holy, moly. I went for the caramel chocolate cheesecake something and it was amazing. There is one table in the patio where there is sun in the morning. We got it as the first ones to arrive. That made a big difference.

Food was great. Wait times surprisingly long (some tables got theirs earlier, who arrived 20 min later). Should have asked to get the porridge for the kid sooner. Went a tad bad. Staff also did not think to tell that the porridge will take 40 min.

Guessing my British brekkie needed restocking from the shop or something. As the poached eggs we ordered arrived to the neighbors earlier than to us.

But we had good company, our own toys, and the sun. So survived the wait and...
