Mixed feelings. First off, for some reason, it's not common in Estonia for customers to wait for a table if one isn't immediately available; it's almost as if waiting is taboo. When we said we were happy to wait, it seemed to throw the server off for a moment. However, we quickly got past that, and a table for four was found within minutes.
The next piece of information was that we'd have a long wait for food, "up to 50 minutes." Okay, again, something you don't often hear outside of Estonia, because ultimately, it's lost revenue. We took the "risk" and sat down.
For our choices, we had risotto and cheese balls (very tasty), a Tex-Mex chicken burger (the chicken was bland, and the sauce on the side tasteless), and loaded fries (what used to be called a "bachelor's fry-up" because it was more like fried potatoes with lots of onion and meat). In short, the food was hit or miss; the risotto balls deserve praise, but the burger and loaded fries were too unique for their own good.
The interior is very fitting for a quiet town, and it's nice that such places manage to stay open. The food, however, needs to catch up to...
Read moreLooked like a very cozy place with an interesting menu. Sadly we weren't able to eat there. After entering and sitting down, no-one came to bring us menus, so I went to get them myself. When we had chosen what we wanted to eat, still no-one had come to our table, and no-one came after that either. A table that arrived 10 minutes after us was served, but still we were ignored. I made eye contact with several servers, but still they didn't come to our table. Eventually, we were able to catch the attention of a server who then came to take our order 5 minutes later. Once we passed our order, she said the waiting time would be 40 minutes.. Since we had been waiting already for 20 minutes and were hungry, we decided to leave. Really sad about this experience, as the menu and interior seemed...
Read moreExcellent food, nice service, comfortable atmosphere. The place is a bit on the fancy side, as Võru goes, but that mostly concerns the prices and hipster-y interior design. You don't necessarily need a tuxedo or evening dress.
The place can be quite crowded on rush hours, so it might be a good idea to reserve a table beforehand, if you plan visiting on a Saturday eve or such. In those time slots, it is not the place to grab a quick coffee, as if you even can find a seat, the nice folks servicing everyone might be just too occupied to suit your hurry. Instead, plan your visit, take your time, and enjoy. All my friends in Võru have been talking about Namm and I'm happy to say all the praise seems to...
