Unfortunately I had a really disappointing experience with Heima á Fitjum.
Their website is so nice, and their contact form is super friendly, saying that we are welcome to write to them "even just to say hello". I then contacted them well in advance both via email and via the contact form in order to ask an actual question before booking the Breakfast club experience, which looked very appealing and had still open dates at the beginning of September. I did not receive any news, so I thought something went wrong and decided to just book the experience anyway.
Nothing happened until early afternoon of the day before the experience, when I was frustrated enough to call EatLocal.fo to ask for information about all this. The operator sounded puzzled too, as there were other guests who booked the same experience, and told me he would check with the owner.
Long story short, I got a very short message saying that they did not accept any more customer due to renovations. It would have been enough to close the bookings on EatLocal.fo, or just answer to my email a little earlier than with 12 hours notice, only after being poked by me via a third party, given that they had no actual phone numer on their website.

From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Kristina, the host. She is the kindest and most genuine person I've ever met. Kristina's hospitality made me feel right at home as she invited me to her breakfast and dinner table with open arms. What truly stood out were the fascinating Faroese folklores she shared, making this not just a meal but a cultural experience.
The food at Heima á Fitjum is nothing short of amazing. Kristina uses mostly local ingredients, ensuring fresh and delicious meals that cater to various dietary needs and restrictions.
One of the most memorable parts of my visit was the cold swim in the morning led by Kristina. It was an invigorating experience that made the warm coffee and hearty breakfast that followed even more delightful. This unique combination of nature, culture, and cuisine is something you won’t find anywhere else.
If you're looking for an authentic and transformative experience in the Faroe Islands, visiting Heima á Fitjum should be at the top of your list. Kristina and her incredible hospitality will leave a lasting impression on you.

Kristina welcomed us into her home and gave us a wholesome, interesting, comforting and heartfelt experience.
Meeting other people travelling the Faroe Islands, sharing experiences, talking about culture and learning about Faroese legends was very special.
The food was lovely, local, homely and welcome after a chilly, but surpringsly warm dip. If you are a first time dipper Kristina will guide you through and if not, what a place to dip and add to your list.
Kristina shared a great tip - to create a warm barrier once you are submerged - I never knew this and all of a sudden this warm barrrier developed and I felt like I was sunbathing - which sounds bizzare, but only thing I can compare the feeling to.
Enjoy this experience....
