Today, I had the absolute pleasure of being served by the lovely Seini—I hope I’ve got her name right—at the Valelevu Hot Bread Kitchen. I must say, the service I received was nothing short of exceptional. Not only from Seini, but also from the elderly lady and the other wonderful team members who made the atmosphere so warm and welcoming. Perhaps it’s because it’s Friday, but whatever the reason, they truly made my day brighter.
I originally stopped by to purchase a few empty sacks, but I couldn’t resist grabbing some of those delicious chicken pies—the aroma alone was enough to sway me! As I waited, something happened that really caught my attention and stayed with me: Seini noticed that a customer she had just served had accidentally left his phone on the counter. Without hesitation, she called him back to return it. That small but significant act of honesty and integrity really stood out to me.
As I looked around, my eyes landed on a framed photo of the founder, the late Dr. Mere Samisoni—a truly remarkable woman who dedicated so much of her life to serving the people of Fiji. I have no doubt she would be incredibly proud of how her team at Valelevu continues to uphold her legacy.
