Difficult place to review, expectations on previous reviews rated this highly, even an Uber driver in Sydney directed us to this restaurant We were told that the decor was not fabulous, I agree my first impression was not pleasant, stuck in the 80’s tacky prints - wood tables and chairs, the restaurant was reasonably clean, not a large crowd, for a Saturday night.
A number of dishes ordered - a fish and chips - not great fish was dry and very basic as a kids meal.
The garlic prawns mounted on mash potatoes and surrounded by a sea of butter and garlic, prawns not fresh
The garlic bread was swimming in butter was ok, the main dish of Butter chicken, dreadful- so it’s a store brought sauce - with some coconut cream slashed over the top- a few herbs to disguise. The roti was store brought and microwaved- the rice, dry and disgusting, the cubed chicken dropped in last moment.
There was also a crab done in garlic butter and herbs - that for some reason was ok, but not enough to counterbalance the rest of the meal.
For a local while in the wall restaurant, this is ok if you get the fresh that day seafoods, but don’t hold your head up expecting an amazing experience, the staff while pleasant- tried to be hospitable, the delivery from the kitchen to table was hit and Miss.
Hopefully they get better with time - but based on the current methods - it feels like they are not going to change the current model
There are other restaurants, I would do my...
Read moreNice food and good value. We were staying at the nearby Shangri La resort and came here on our last night with our Family Group of 10 for dinner. They were accommodating for a last minute reservation and had the bus pick up and drop us off from the resort (no charge). A few of us ordered the fish fillet which was really fresh and Nicely cooked and great flavours. Everyone else’s dishes (chilli prawns, butter chicken, Thai stir fry, etc) were also very nice. There was a refined style about all the meals, the accompaniments and plating- well done to the chef👍. The portions were a reasonable size but not massive, so if your hungry I’d recommend a starter. A good selection of drinks and cocktails, which are also reasonably priced. Service was polite and attentive but the food was a little slow coming out and there was a couple of mix ups with the drinks orders (but we were a big group so no complaints). Restaurant is located in a small village with few shops nearby if you need to grab some groceries. The restaurant was pleasant, newly renovated and air-conditioned, but it was a bit noisy inside and hard for conversation. We paid $FJ330 for the group including drinks. Would recommend a visit if your staying at the nearby resorts and need to change it up a...
Read moreFlying Fin in Fiji is a seafood haven that exceeded all expectations! I dove into a seafood medley that was a symphony of flavors – fresh, succulent, and downright delicious. But here's the surprise: their butter chicken was hands down the best I've ever had. It's like they've mastered both land and sea on their menu.
The ambiance at Flying Fin is relaxed, letting you focus on the culinary delights. The staff's genuine enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu make the experience even more enjoyable. Each dish is a testament to their commitment to quality.
Now, let's talk drinks. I ventured into the world of Ratu Signature Rum for the first time, and it's officially a new favorite. The perfect companion to a memorable meal.
If you're in Fiji and craving an exceptional seafood and culinary experience, Flying Fin is the place to be. It's not just a meal; it's a journey through flavors that will have you coming...
