On a sailing trip this summer we decided to rendezvous with friends and eat at Glada Laxen, as we have done in the past few years. Based on an old military outpost, with the tower still in place, Glada Laxen is slightly out of the way as restaurants and hotels go, but if you are travelling in Åland I would recommend a visit. The food is fresh and consistently good, making use of the local fishermen and farms to provide good food. The choice is not very wide, but this is always a good sign as it means they make the effort to get fresh food daily. The two chefs come from Espoo each summer to work here, and they clearly enjoy their work.
