This BBQ restaurant, nestled in an old water-powered mill, is an absolute gem for a summer visit. The scenic location is truly captivating and they've done a fantastic job of leveraging the historic setting to create a wonderful atmosphere for the entire family. It's great to see authentic BBQ establishments emerging in Finland, and the concept here is certainly promising. We visited on a busy day, which unfortunately highlighted a few areas for improvement. While not a huge deal for me personally, I did notice one of the cooks with a rag in their nose due to a nosebleed, and food being handled with bare hands by one hand while gloves were worn on the other. Definitely something to be mindful of in a food service environment. The high volume also seemed to impact the food quality. The brisket, unfortunately, was on the dry side, and I found the meats and sauces overall to be too salty. However, it wasn't all negatives on the food front! My personal favorites were the chicken and the delicious fried potatoes, served skin-on. A real highlight. This place has immense potential, especially given its unique and beautiful setting. With some tweaks to food consistency and kitchen hygiene practices, it could truly be a standout destination for BBQ...
Read moreThe food is fantastic, We bought all the dishes between us and got to try a bit of everything. The brisket and cornbread was my absolute favourites and I will come back just for those. But all the other dishes are absolute top tier too. The only dessert is soft serve ice cream but they make it themselves and had rhubarb when I was there and it was an absolute treat. The staff is super nice and friendly. Do not expect table service. this is very much a order and get your food and drinks by the counter type of establishment. The noise level in the building itself is unfortunately to sharp and high for me and my son (sound sensitivity issues) I would recommend more soundproofing inside. However we sat outdoors on the Patio which is very lush and green with the mill brook running alongside it. Absolutely hidden gem in a former mill. A lot of the old mill is still preserved...
Read moreThought to give this place a go as there is plenty of positive recommendations. Sadly I have to say the brisket at least was a disappointment. The smokering was non-existent and for me there wasnt enough of salt which makes me wonder if the brining was too short. The fatty layer (left on purpose to keep the brisket moist during the bbq process) was way too massive, well over the recommended. As a result the vibe was that I was eating more fat than the actual meat. Finally the menu stated bbq sandwich. As Im aware a sandwich uses toast. An authentic texan style sandwich is called "reuben". Here the sandwich dish was served with a brioche bun, which made me feel like Im eating Indian food in Asian restaurant as even the...
