Bistro Kirkkonummi — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

This place is on the way the way to my country place and we always try to time our trip so that we are hungry when we pass it. That’s how good it is.

I remember my prejudice when I was paying a visit for the first time. In spite of good reviews I had my doubts. I thought it was funny that the location was just next to the big shopping mall in Kirkkonummi. How can a good restaurant be situated like that? Well, it can and it does not bother friends of superb food; it’s almost full every time we visit.

Everything is right with this place. The food is as good as that of the best restaurants in the centre of Helsinki. The interior and atmosphere are excellent. ✌Glutenfree Options✌ Delicious steak but partly a chewy one, slightly disappointing about that I must say. Anyways, it was a really eye- and mouthwatering tasty meal with various well-composed taste experiences. A big thumbs up for that!

It also looked so good on the plate, served by nice staff which I appreciate a lot! Before ordering, I had to ask staff about glutenfree options and contamination risk, how the products are handled and luckily they were very happy to help. I didn't feel like I was bothering the staff with my pickiness.

It was the first time I visited Kirkkonummi, looking forward a good meal in a nice restaurant and this was the perfect place. If I ever visit Kirkkonummi again I will definitely have something to eat at this...

We went to Bistro O Mat for their blini brunch. Overall the meal was enjoyable and had some very delicious options on the buffet table. The starter soup was made from mustajuuri (black salsify) and was warm and creamy. A new dish for me. One of the desert options was great (chocolate mousse with mango sorbet) but the other (vanilla ice cream with espresso shot) was underwhelming.

Only a couple small downsides, the blini seemed very thick and were quite greasy and the portions of roe per person were quite small for the overall price of the meal.

I would still recommend Bistro O Mat as a fancy place to visit. I would like to return for the regular Sunday brunch to see how...
