After a trip to Greece I fell in love with local food and missed it a lot. Glad I found this place, so I can ease the craving in between of traveling. Place itself is small, clean but not fancy in any way. So I decided to get a takeaway rather than dine in, ordered Souvlaki, which is my favorite dish. It was prepared quite fast, staff seemed friendly. Food was tasty and imo authentic. The only critique would be that the portion of meat was significantly smaller than what you’d normally get in Greece ordering souvlaki and also there was a lot of fat, it felt like I didn’t get to enjoy the meat itself for more than couple of bites. I will say the portion overall was good size, good amount of sides and food got me full, just didn’t get the craving down. It left me wonder if takeout portion of meat is any different from dining in. All in all I expected a bit more for the price, but will definitely eat...
Read moreAn ode to souvlaki in Finland! The moment I stepped in this place I knew it would be an authentic experience. Not fancy-schmancy Greek restaurant with Poseidon’s Steak in the menu - you know who you are… A canteen with taverna music in the background, waiters speaking Greek and gyros smell as an appetizer 😂👌 As for the souvlaki, right size, right ingredients, right seasoning, actual souvlaki pita (not the kebab kind you usually find in Finland), actual gyros (not just grilled meat) and potatoes inside (yes the right way includes potatoes inside, don’t talk to me about carbs on carbs, this isn’t diet food). We also got some tzatziki and potatoes for a starter, that were good, but the souvlaki greatly outshined them! 🌯 It’s been two weeks and I still think about this place. Is it worth the trip to Tikkurila? A thousand times yes! Cheaper and more ecological than the alternative trip...
Read moreThe gyro was delicious. Really well flavoured chicken, nice tzatziki, chunky chips. Not a fancy place but friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, and great food for good prices. As it's in a glass box it did get VERY hot in there on a sunny day - cracking a door open would have been nicer than shutting the curtains, I think. The baklava was nice enough but not amazing...
