Ravintola Hox Savela — Restaurant in Jyväskylä sub-region

The restaurant is not in the typical place to serve food, but it is none the less a nice place to have food. There is a good system of ordering and getting table service so it is a bit nice for Finnish food. The chef has made nice food before with the concentration on the presentation, and needs to really think about the taste too. Given the limited ingredients in Finland, this can be difficult, but to do basic things right is a starting point. I had to ask the chef to two the food, not once but twice. Not an apology, and if this was in another country, better service would have come. But this is Finland, so go straight up to the chef and fix the problem and move on with it. Most foods is freshly prepared so that gives the place credit, but the view is not restaurant like at all, and there needs to be improvements in the food cooking quality. Menu choice is...

Ravintola HOX, aivan erinomainen lounasravintola Jyväskylän Savelassa, entisessä Jyväskylän Energian rakennuksessa.

Alkupalana uskomattoman hyvää ravintolan omaa leipää, tuoretta ja lähes suussa sulavaa. Aina on tarjolla myös alkupalaksi keittoa. Salaatti on tuoretta, raikasta ja todella hyvää.

Pääruoka vaihtelee päivittäin ja syömäni kanaruoka pastalla, smetanalla ja avokadolla oli hyvin tehty ja maittavaa.

Jälkiruuaksi kahvi tai tee pienellä herkkupalalla.

Ravintolan läheltä löytyy ilmaista parkkitilaa riittävästi.

Tämä kaikki hintaan 9.50 euroa, ei paha hinta ollenkaan.

Vuonna 2017 tullessaan Hox toi tuulahduksen hyvästä ruuasta. Nyt sitä tuulahdusta ei enää ole.

11.8.2023 burgeri oli alisuoritus, kahden tähden juttu. Jokapaikan perusburgeri, mauton, pieni pihvi… Runsaasti suolaisia ranskalaisia. Seuralaisen kala-annoksen perunasose oli kuin tapettiliisteriä. Annos oli haalea. Liisteri meni sellaisenaan biopussiin. Salaattipöytä samanlainen kuin Sodexolla, ei erityistä.

Ruoka tarjoillaan annoksina pöytään. Nopea toimitus.

Ei siis enää gourmet-keidas, vaan tavallinen työpaikkaruokala. Ja sellaisena varmaan toimiikin, kun on kulmakunnan ainoa lounaspaikka.
