Stayed here over a long weekend at the beginning of March for my partners 40th birthday so we were hoping we would see the northern lights etc. We chose to stay here as it had the kind of feel of staying in a log cabin in the woods surrounded by snow which sounded great. The place is actually only a 6 or 7 minute drive from the airport but when you get there it feels like its out of the way. I booked the Koppelo (probably spelt wrong) cabin that is designed for 6 ppl to stay but i was able to have it just for us 2. It was a bit out from the hotel reception area so it felt nice and isolated like a cabin in the woods but also just the comfort in your own head that you were near ppl lol. The cabin was great, lovely and warm, private sauna which we used just the once. Lovely big shower head, plenty of hot water. The facilities were there if you wanted to cook and make your own food but you must leave the place as you find it and i wasnt gonna start trying to clean off grease and crap. All we used was the kettle for coffees. We chose to eat mostly in the adjoining restaurant/bar beside reception. The food is pretty good but limited. Lovely burgers and cheese and bacon toasties but by day 3 i really wanted something fresh like a baked potatoe and salad but i understand its really just a thing to feed numbers of people who are maybe in a rush to go about their daily activites. Its not really a proper restaurant. All the staff were friendly and when we arrived on our first night at about 9pm when it was very dark and freezing, one of the staff said he would give us a lift up to the cabin so we would then know where it was and get our bearings,, so we were grateful for that. They also have a small area for buying little souveneirs. And they have an entire room full of warm onesies and boots you can hire if going out on husky rides and stuff. The camp also offers its own range of snowy activities. I didnt avail of these, i had separately booked another company for our husky ride...we wanted to do more...the camp offers ice fishing, my partner loves fishing....but its about £100 each and apparently it lasts 4 hours...everything is very expensive...not just the things the camp offers but all companies and snow activities...there is nothing under the price of €100-120...and really...you wouldnt be able to sit out in that freezing temperature for 4 hours...its a struggle to stand and sit about for 1 hour as we found at the 2 hour husky ride...think pain...not just your a wee bit cold...(well i suppose it depends where your from, you might be used to extreme cold) but your in pain from the cold....but its all very beautiful. We had great weather...lots of sunshine, lots of snow, lots of laughs, snow angels and a terribly...

Read moreWhat a perfect place to stay while visiting the surroundings of Inari! Nice and friendly owners/staff welcoming us. The surrounding is quiet and spatial, not the mass of a hotel. Also at night it is a good spot for watching the sky, searching for the northern light. There is little light pollution, as it is situated outside the city centre.||The 2-person-cabin was really nice and cosy (we had no. 14). The water boiler, fridge and microwave were very nice to have in the cabin. When not doing any activities, we could use the table for playing some card- or boardgames. The beds were nice and large. The view out of the cabin was amazing. The cabin really looked well maintained, with comfortable heater and cosy dimmable lights (and free wifi available for those interested in having that).||In the evening we enjoyed the hamburgers and kebab/pita at the restaurant, they tasted so good that we had dinner there three times! The breakfast in the morning is fresh and good. Basic, but enough choice, and perfect for starting your day (and actually, who needs an abundance of food in the morning anyway? That can only produce too much waste ;)||The sanitary building was clean, great shower, and all looking quite new. There is a separate kitchen where you can have your own meal, although in winter there are no cooking facilities (only the microwave and water boiler in your own cabin). In spring/summer/autumn you can cook in here.||We couldn't take bedlinnen and hand towels, but for a small amount they provide it for you. If you can't take your own cups, plate or cutlery, they also sell it at the reception. ||There is a bus line in front of the campground, but it only goes a couple of times a day. A walk to Ivalo village is very nice. You can walk on the frozen river (takes about an hour) or alongside the road (takes about...
