A few days ago, on a cycling trip through France's Champagne region, on a blazing hot day we stopped in the little Marne river town of Dormans. The campground gave this restaurant's food high praise, so we made reservations and arrived on time. It had reached 90 degrees that day and was still hot in the evening.
We were looking forward to champagne, good food, cheese, dessert, everything. But after half an hour we were very thirsy and feeling ignored. Other parties who'd arrived after us got greeted, and served. But despite having reserverations, we still had no menus, no water, just knives and napkins.
We hadn't even been greeted by a server, so I approached the manager and asked for water. She said she'd see about it as soon as soon as she could. But after several more minutes, we'd still gotten no water and no service.
So we ended up leaving Sylvain Sutie as hungry and thirsty as we arrived. We wondered, did we get no servce because we looked like cyclists, and therefore cheap-skates? That some of us looked American? There were other Americans in there in tee shirts, maybe even cyclists. Or maybe it was because our party was the only one there that included nonwhite people.

Everything is homemadw and cooked and baked with love, including the pastries after the main course (this was confirmed by a champagne maison we visited some miles away later where the family was well aware of the restaurant). We highly recommend to eat here and get a fantastic meal with equally...
