Great Traditional Spot with Delicious Food

We got to Saint-Riquier on a Friday afternoon and were a bit surprised to see so many empty tables—probably because it was just before the summer season kicked off. It made the place feel a bit quiet, but that didn’t take away from the experience at all.

The food was fantastic. We tried the ficelle picarde (a warm, cheesy mushroom crêpe gratin) and the tatin d’oignons (an onion tart with offal sausage—much tastier than it sounds!). The assiette du pêcheur was super generous, packed with different kinds of fish, and full of flavor. We also had the fricassée de Saint-Jacques, which was rich and comforting.

For dessert, we went with the crème brûlée and the moelleux au chocolat. Both were great, but the moelleux was next-level—soft in the middle, warm, and seriously one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while. If you have a sweet tooth, ensure you go for that over the crème brûlée!

La dame qui vous reçoit est particulièrement douce, souriante, diligente et empressée. C’est très agréable. Elle vous présente la bouteille de vin quand vous le commandez au verre. Le vin est servi à la bonne température et ne sort pas d’un frigidaire comme dans de nombreux restaurants. La ficelle picarde - et nous sommes connaisseurs - est délicieuse, bien rôtie au four à la limite du croustillant. C’est un test pour l’amiénois que je suis. Une blanquette en plat du jour généreuse, avec des légumes frais et non pas du surgelé, un bavarois aux poires avec framboises fraîches et un biscuit croustillant qui me réconcilie moi qui ne suis pas fervent de ce dessert. Il me laisse le souvenir d’une excellente pâtisserie sans trop de sucre, extrêmement fruitée et savoureux. En fin de compte, nous sortons avec une addition largement plus que raisonnable et une impression de reconnaissance envers le couple qui tient discrètement ce discret petit restaurant mais cependant répertorié au Gault et Millaud.
