We arrived in France in the early hours of 20th July this year, and started our journey to Marcon and a small campsite. We stayed for two week and on our way back to Calais we decided to take the scenic route through the beautiful French countryside, and villages, also in the hope of finding somewhere nice to eat some authentic French cuisine on our way home. Oh boy you can imagine how pleased we were when we came across this superb restaurant, the children were happy with chips and chicken nuggets (as children are lol), but my partner and I tried the Cote de boeuf....oh my gosh. It was the best piece of beef i have ever had the pleasure of putting into my mouth. Seriously, it was so nice that if it didn't mean i was considered greedy i would have had a second portion. I hope this doesn't sound like me going over the top, but it was as in the words of Tina Turner "simply the best." I am now trying to convince my partner that we need to take a trip back there before the end...
Read moreAfter being recommended the restaurant we stopped for dinner and left feeling it was one of our best meals for the 2 week trip. This is due to a few reasons. The owners are extremely friendly and really accommodating, I much prefer trying to support local businesses than big hotel chains. Read moreWe happened upon Auberge des Contrebandiers completely by chance on the return journey of a motorcycle road trip to le mans. While we didn't stay the night, the 7 of us stopped and ate a meal in the restaurant that was nothing short of magical. The service & atmosphere was just fantastic, and the only complaint I cud possible make was that we didn't have more time to stay for longer.
